Rob Zombie and his crew started the location-scouting phase for his upcoming adaptation of The Munsters, based on the original '60s TV series. Known for putting out unsettling and disturbing content, as seen in his original films like House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects, the musician turned filmmaker is on to his next spooky venture. In June, Zombie revealed his logo for The Munsters on Instagram. It doesn't stray far from the original show's title poster, retaining the '60s-style font shared by similar monster-themed content of its time. Released in 1964, the original sitcom series followed the everyday life of a family of monsters. The show starred Fred Gwynne as Herman Munster, the family's leader of the pack, and Yvonne De Carlo as Lily Munster, the vampire matriarch of the home.
Zombie's wife and frequent co-star, Sherri Moon Zombie, posted a selfie with an update for fans. She went on to let everyone know they are currently in the process of location scouting for The Munsters. Sitting in The Munster Coach with an Eddie Munster prop in the background, Sherri addresses the recent demand for the film's trailer by informing eager fans they are still in the pre-production phase. Though it won't be the first movie based on the television series, Zombie's take on The Munsters may be the most original spin. His first rendition of Halloween received a mixed reception as it took a major pivot from the original film, taking a deep dive into the dark, disturbing layers of Michael Myers' psyche as a child. This more psychological approach defied what most of his cult followers came to expect, given Zombie's much gorier original films. As for The Munsters movie, given their premature status of still locking down where to shoot, both fans of Zombie and the iconic sitcom will need to be patient while waiting to find out how far he takes things this time.
