Writer/director Rob Zombie shares new photos from behind-the-scenes of The Munsters film reboot, offering a look at the wardrobe department. First premiering in 1964, the sitcom centered on Frankenstein's monster, now living under the name Herman Munster, as he tries to live an average American life with his vampiric wife Lily, her father Grandpa, an older version of Count Dracula, their teenage niece Marilyn and their werewolfish son Eddie. The series was meant as a satire of both American suburban life and classic monster films, much like the similar title The Addams Family on ABC.

The Munsters received rave reviews in its two seasons on the air, garnering a Golden Globe nomination, though was canceled due to low ratings in competition against ABC's Batman. With the series still remaining one of the more iconic for the era, multiple attempts have been made to continue and reboot the property, including a film from the Wayans family and the remake pilot Mockingbird Lane from Hannibal creator Bryan Fuller. The latest effort hails from horror director Zombie, who was confirmed to be writing and helming a film reboot earlier this year after plenty of speculation on the matter.

Though the film is still in pre-production, development on The Munsters appears to be moving at a solid pace if based solely on Zombie's recent BTS images. Having already shared looks at the facial prosthetics and wigs for Herman and Grandpa, the images of the costume continue to build solid anticipation from both fans of the series and the filmmaker himself. Finding a way to meld the simpler macabre style of the original sitcom with the darker, heavy metal sensibilities of Zombie, it certainly looks to be on track to be a happy combination of both aesthetics.

While not always the case, it is interesting to note that with costumes made for multiple characters of The Munsters reboot, the likelihood that the central family has been cast seems high. After the project was first announced, Sheri Moon Zombie was confirmed to star as Lily while rumors of the rest of the cast came shortly thereafter. With the film not officially shooting yet, only time will tell whether Zombie or Universal will properly announce the full cast list soon or keep it a surprise until closer to the film's release.
