Warner Bros. officially announced its crossover fighting game, MultiVersus, and the trailer for MultiVersus reveals some of the characters in the base game. MultiVersus is Warner Bros.' take on the Super Smash Bros. formula, with iconic characters being lumped together on stages so that they can face each other in battle.

MultiVersus features characters from franchises like DC Comics, Looney Tunes, Hanna-Barbera, Adventure TimeSteven Universe, and Game of Thrones. Warner Bros. owns a lot of franchises, as anyone who has seen Space Jam: A New Legacy can attest. These include the Wizarding World, The Matrix, the Middle-Earth properties (like The Lord of the Rings), and Mortal Kombat. There are also the properties owned by HBO, and Game of Thrones has a lot of potential for characters, but it's unlikely that Paulie Walnuts from The Sopranos, Vernon Schillinger from OZ, or Stringer Bell from The Wire will be receiving a MultiVersus letter in the mail.

The official Warner Bros. UK YouTube channel has the first trailer for MultiVersus, which reveals twelve of the characters who will be appearing in the game. The developers have confirmed that more will be coming in the future. MultiVersus is a free-to-play game, so it's unclear how the characters will be monetized. It's possible these characters will be free at launch, but additional ones will be paid DLC, like the Fighters Pass for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

All Confirmed Fighter Characters In MultiVersus So Far

MultiVersus Battle

All of the characters in MultiVersus come from Warner Bros. franchises, except for one. The green dog-like creature in the trailer is Reindog, who is an original character that was created specifically for MultiVersus. The trailer for MultiVersus confirmed that the following characters would appear in the game:

  • Arya Stark (Game of Thrones)
  • Batman
  • Bugs Bunny
  • Finn (Adventure Time)
  • Garnet (Steven Universe)
  • Harley Quinn
  • Jake (Adventure Time)
  • Reindog (MultiVersus)
  • Shaggy (Scooby-Doo)
  • Steven (Steven Universe)
  • Superman
  • Tom & Jerry
  • Wonder Woman

The MultiVersus roster has leaked in the past, and there are reports that Gandalf from The Lord of the Rings and Rick Sanchez from Rick and Morty are also going to be in the game. There were also rumors that characters from the Harry Potter franchise will be included. The fact that MultiVersus is a free-to-play live service game means that all kinds of characters could come to the game in the future, assuming it's a hit when it releases in 2022.
