Disney releases a new Mulan movie trailer for the upcoming live-action adaptation of their 1998 animated film. In recent years, Walt Disney Studios has found a fair amount of success with live-action adaptations of films from their animated classics vault. As a result, the Mouse House has plenty more planned, including the upcoming Mulan, based on the 1998 animated movie, which is based loosely on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan. The story tells of woman, Mulan (Liu Yifei), who poses as a man and enters the Chinese Imperial Army in order to protect her family.

Disney's upcoming Mulan is directed by Niki Caro and will diverge from the animated movie quite a bit, unlike recent live-action adaptations like The Lion King, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast. For instance, Mulan won't be a musical, nor will it include certain characters from the animated movie, like Mulan's love interest Shang (B.D. Wong), and her small dragon friend Mushu (Eddie Murphy). Caro's movie is going for a more grounded take on the legend, as seen in the already released Mulan movie trailers. However, it will honor the animated film, as evidenced by the use of instrumental versions of songs from the 1998 musical. Now, Disney uses Super Bowl LIV to launch a new Mulan trailer.

During the big game on Fox, Disney aired a Mulan Super Bowl TV spot and released a full-length final trailer online. Watch the new Mulan trailer below.

Like previous Mulan trailers, the final teaser highlights the action spectacle in Caro's movie, with a number of battle sequences. The Mulan final trailer also reveals more footage from the character's time training in the army, and the oath she must take to be a warrior: Loyal, brave and true. As seen in the video, Mulan doesn't voice the "true" part of the oath, since she's in the army under false pretenses. Still, she'll earn respect as a warrior - one that's loyal, brave and true - by the end of the movie if this trailer is any indication.

In addition to focusing on Yifei's titular character, the Mulan trailer focuses more on the movie's two villains, Hun leader Bori Khan (Jason Scott Lee) and the witch Xian Lang (Gong Li). They're set up to be a formidable foe for the Chinese Imperial Army, especially with Xian Lang's powers, which make her a difficult opponent in hand-to-hand combat. The new trailer teases a showdown between Mulan and Xian Lang that seems to be a major climactic moment in the movie, and fans will surely hope to see the hero prevail. While the Mulan final trailer offers even more footage to win over prospective audiences, fans will have to wait to see more until next month before Disney's latest live-action adventure hits theaters.
