During Teen Wolf's MTV reunion special, creator Jeff Davis revealed that they had wanted to do a spin-off series centered on the character, Kira. MTV's hit show about a teenage werewolf premiered on the channel in 2011 and ran for six seasons. The show did (and still does) have a huge fanbase, and many are calling for a seventh season three years after it ended.

Teen Wolf stars Tyler Posey (Jane the Virgin) as Scott McCall, a high schooler who accidentally gets bitten by a werewolf and finds himself thrown into a supernatural world he knows nothing about. Dylan O'Brien (The Maze Runner) plays his best friend, Stiles Stilinski, while Tyler Hoechlin (Superman and Lois) is an older werewolf named Derek who begins to mentor Scott. The series also stars Crystal Reed, Holland Roden, Linden Ashby, and many others.

On their YouTube channel, MTV recently streamed a Teen Wolf reunion special that was also a fundraiser for First Responders First, an initiative to get PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) to frontline workers fighting the coronavirus. During the reunion, MTV's Josh Horowitz asked the cast where they thought their characters were now. When it came to Arden Cho, who played Kira Yukimura, she couldn't say where her character was after the series, saying "I don't remember what happened," as Kira's plot line was left unresolved. Davis commented on that, sharing the he and the team behind the show had "wanted to do a spinoff with Kira” to address what happened next for her.

Kira in Teen Wolf

Teen Wolf created a major cliffhanger with Kira at the end of season 5, leaving her with a group called the Skinwalkers to learn how to control her powers. Like many of the other characters on the show, Kira is supernatural, a creature called a Kitsune. This is a trickster fox spirit with supernatural abilities, based on Japanese folklore. Because the show had such an extensive cast of characters, Kira's plot line was dropped, and both Cho and her character didn't return to Teen Wolf for the final season. Clearly, the Kira-centered spinoff never happened, but Cho is set to go if they were to do it now, saying: "Let's do it. I'm ready." After Teen Wolf, Cho went on to have roles in Miss 2059 and Chicago Med

Much of the cast has spoken up about wanting to return to Teen Wolf, but we've yet to see anything happen. While most of the cast was at MTV's reunion, a few actors who were main cast members throughout the years, like Hoechlin and Reed, were not able to attend. Hoechlin is likely busy with his upcoming CW show Superman and Lois, while Reed's Swamp Thing is airing on the same channel this summer. Reuniting three years after the show ended, it's clear that Teen Wolf made its mark on the world, and hopefully will continue to.
