Warning: This article contains spoilers for the Ms. Marvel finale.

Ms. Marvel ended with the shocking reveal that Kamala Khan is a mutant. Comic fans know this departs significantly from Kamala's origin, in which her latent Inhuman genes are activated from exposure to the Terrigen Mists. But Ms. Marvel does share strong X-Men connections in Marvel Comics that the MCU likely now capitalizes on.

Ms. Marvel shares several adventures with X-Men in her brief time as a superhero, and she's taken part in key storylines involving the mutants in recent years. She also stars in a new one-shot alongside Wolverine that likely serves as a natural entry point for fans coming to the comics for the first time after having seen her in live-action.

Captain Marvel

Ms. Marvel's strongest connection to the X-Men exists through her idol, Captain Marvel. Comic book fans know Carol served as an honorary member of the X-Men in the early 1980s, after her disastrous first battle with Rogue in Avengers Annual #10. Rogue stole Carol's powers and memories, leading Professor X to help Carol get them back over time.

Kamala being a mutant proves shocking given her comic origins, but makes sense in the MCU, where Carol's deep ties to the X-Men almost certainly come into play in the very near future.

Ms. Marvel & Wolverine

Ms Marvel with Wolverine

Ms. Marvel appears in Ms. Marvel & Wolverine #1 from Jody Houser and Ze Carlos, due in comic shops on August 3rd. This one-shot comic comes on the heels of her MCU reveal and teams her with Wolverine after she discovers Krakoan technology being used for nefarious purposes in New York City.

The grizzled Wolverine and jubilant Ms. Marvel seem an unlikely pair at first, but Wolverine shares strong friendships with several young Marvel Comics heroes, including the X-Men Kitty Pryde and Jubilee.

Fighting The Inventor

Ms. Marvel & Wolverine #1 actually serves as something of a sequel to a previous Wolverine and Ms. Marvel adventure. The two first met in Ms. Marvel #6 by G. Willow Wilson, Jake Wyatt, Ian Herring, and Joe Caramagna, where they fought The Inventor. This bizarre supervillain brought the two very different heroes together in a fun, exciting adventure.

The issue, a great comic to read before or after watching the Ms. Marvel show, generates a lot of humor from the heroes' contrasting personalities. The issue also functions as a template for what is now a very likely MCU team-up.

Exiles

A Ms. Marvel variant appears in Exiles comics.

Kamala Khan's MCU connections to mutants likely involve the X-Men, but they could involve the Exiles as well. A powerful older Ms. Marvel variant appeared in the 2018 Exiles volume. She joins the mutant Blink and an imaginative Wolverine variant, rendered as a chibi cartoon character, on the multiversal team.

This variant also serves alongside Iron Lad, a powerful Kang The Conqueror variant from the comics who likely appears in the MCU in some form as Kang becomes more and more of a threat in live-action.

Old Lady Laura

Kamala Khan as President in Marvel Comics.

Another powerful Ms. Marvel variant emerges in All-New Wolverine. This version becomes President of the United States in the "Old Woman Laura" storyline that features X-23, Laura Kinney, in the future. Kamala and Laura remain close friends in this alternate reality, which despite its positive elements still ranks among the darkest Marvel Comics timelines.

Kamala's presidency occurs after the Doom World War, a cataclysmic event that alters the course of history in Earth-18366 and ends with many key Marvel heroes prisoners of Doom in Latveria. Laura serves as Queen of Madripoor, a title she won in the war.

The Celestial Destructor

The Avengers fight the Celestial Destroyer in Marvel Comics.

Ms. Marvel gets her first real team-up with the X-Men in a brief but extraordinary battle in Civil War II #1. Ms. Marvel, a member of the Avengers at the time, joins forces with the X-Men and many other heroes to fight The Celestial Destructor. This powerful cosmic being arrives on Earth to find and confront Eternity.

Comic book fans know Eternity serves a major role in the Marvel Universe as the living embodiment of the multiverse, and with the character's MCU debut in Thor: Love and Thunder, it's likely this epic battle with Ms. Marvel, the Avengers, and X-Men occurs in live-action.

Inhumans Vs. X-Men

The shift in Kamala Khan's origins in the MCU likely strikes some comic fans as ironic given she debuted during a period in which Marvel attempted to emphasize the Inhumans over the X-Men due to strife over the X-Men movie rights. This resulted in the Inhumans Vs. X-Men storyline, which pitted the two groups against one another.

The two come to blows over the Terrigen Mists that gave Kamala her powers in the comics, but prove deadly for mutants. This 2016 storyline seemed monumental at the time, but likely doesn't factor in live-action given Marvel Studios owns the X-Men now and the MCU's apparent move away from the Inhumans.

Secret Warriors

Quake, Moon Girl, and Ms. Marvel talk in Marvel Comics.

Inhumans Vs. X-Men did generate consequences in the comics. A major one the MCU potentially adapts involves the Secret Warriors. Ms. Marvel joined this superhero team after the devastating war left the Inhumans with an identity crisis. She joined fellow Inhuman Quake as well as Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur.

This team played a role in the Secret Empire storyline that saw Hydra take over the United States. The team potentially forms in the MCU if Quake reappears, though it seems the franchise wants to shy away from the Inhumans storylines Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. established during its run.

The Champions

The Champions team assembles with Ms. Marvel in Marvel Comics.

Ms. Marvel joined another team the MCU likely adapts to the screen, The Champions. She served alongside a younger Cyclops variant, who Beast brought forward in time from the past to help the X-Men find their footing. Ms. Marvel went on many major adventures with Cyclops, including key storylines the MCU very likely covers like Outlawed.

Outlawed sees the United States government pass a ban on underage superheroes after a major incident in which Kamala is seriously injured. This leads to C.R.A.D.L.E., a governmental organization tasked with tracking down teenage heroes who don't comply with the law.
