Ms. Marvel is coming to Disney+ and the first trailer for the upcoming streaming series features a ton of big reveals about how the young superhero will fit into the MCU. Some of the biggest reveals include confirmation that Ms. Marvel's powers will diverge significantly from Marvel Comics, leaving behind her Inhuman origins for something new and mysterious.

Other reveals suggest that the show could break or at least tear at the fourth wall, with Kamala Khan engaging in a lot of fascinating fantasy sequences that include her being Captain Marvel. The trailer also includes connections to the rest of the MCU and sets the stage for a fun and fascinating debut for Ms. Marvel, destined to be a major character in the franchise going forward.

Kamala Khan Dreams Of Being Captain Marvel

As is the case in Marvel Comics, the trailer reveals that Kamala Khan dreams of being Captain Marvel. Pictures of Carol Danvers abound in Kamala's room, on her shirts, and in two shots, she's wearing versions of the Captain Marvel costume.

One is a homemade costume that includes Carol's iconic helmet and the other is a dream or fantasy sequence in which Kamala appears to be wearing the actual MCU Captain Marvel costume, a possible sign of things to come down the road.

She Likes Ant-Man Too

Comic book fans know Ms. Marvel's favorite hero is Captain Marvel, but the trailer reveals she's an Avengers fan in general. She's doodling images of Ant-Man and The Wasp in her notebook at school, including a fight with her doodle, Man-Ant.

Kamala also wears a shirt with The Wasp, Captain Marvel, and Valkyrie on it. All three characters fought together in the final battle against Thanos and could potentially form an MCU version of A-Force, the all-female Avengers roster from the comics.

Possible Connection To WandaVision

One of the biggest reveals of the trailer confirms a lot of speculation about the series: Kamala Khan's powers will function differently than they do in the comics. An intriguing shot in the trailer shows her eyes glowing like Monica Rambeau's suggesting a possible link to The Hex from WandaVision, which was also set in New Jersey (Ms. Marvel is set in Jersey City).

In the comics, Ms. Marvel's powers are a result of the Terrigen Mists, the same strange force that creates the Inhumans. Kamala ranks among the most powerful Inhumans in Marvel Comics, but it seems the MCU is making a major change.

She Can Still Embiggen

There is some carryover from the comics, though. The trailer reveals that Ms. Marvel can still 'embiggen' her fists, at least with some kind of energy projection. This is a strong visual link to how her powers work in Marvel Comics.

In the comics, Kamala Khan can elongate and embiggen her entire body, and one of her signature moves is to increase the size and mass of her fists in battle. It seems she is still able to do that in the MCU but through a different process.

Princess Sparklefists

A great Easter egg from the trailer reveals a deep connection to Carol Danvers. Ms. Marvel's fists glow with strong purple energy throughout the trailer, much as Carol's did in the comics when she was Ms. Marvel and shouldered the burden of the nickname 'Princess Sparklefists.'

Though the source of Carol and Kamala's powers appears to be different - Carol glows with yellow-orange energy while Kamala has purple - it's another example of the connection between the two that will continue in the MCU when both appear in The Marvels.

The Power Cuff

Ms. Marvel's MCU powers could be the product of an ancient and powerful device, based on an intriguing reveal from the trailer. Kamala is seen adjusting a bracelet-like cuff that is glowing with the same purple energy she does.

She wears similar cuffs in the comics, but they serve a different purpose. The bracelet may regulate her powers, but it's also possible it is the actual source of her power, not unlike The Ten Rings from Shang-Chi And The Legend Of The Ten Rings.

The Quantum Realm

Kamala Khan enters the Quantum Realm in Ms. Marvel trailer.

Kamala's powers and origin have been completely rewritten in the MCU and they may be a product of the Quantum Realm. A big reveal from the trailer is Kamala entering what appears to be the distinctive and unusual landscape of the subatomic dimension.

This shot is cast in purple, the same as her powers, indicating some link between the two. If it's not the Quantum Realm, it could be a different alternate dimension and perhaps even one connected to magic. Dark magic used by Agatha Harkness, one of the most powerful Marvel magicians, is also purple.

The Fate Of Avengers Tower

A big reveal from the new trailer is an intriguing image of what used to be Avengers Tower. The tower continues to evolve as it has since Stark Industries abandoned it in Spider-Man: Homecoming and may be close to what will be its new form.

The tower has made sporadic appearances in the MCU since then, and whoever its new owners are - perhaps the Fantastic Four, who works out of the Baxter Building in Marvel Comics - appear to be making substantial changes to the exterior of the tower.

Red Dagger

Ms Marvel Trailer Breakdown Red Dagger Fight

The trailer reveals a quick but interesting shot of Ms. Marvel fighting who is likely Red Dragon. Red Dragon wears the same distinctive mask in the comics and the Pakistani superhero is one of the best martial artists in the Marvel Universe.

Red Dragon is one of Kamala Khan's allies in Marvel Comics and might be training her in the MCU in hand-to-hand combat. In the comics, he's an exchange student who stays with Kamala's family, who he has a family connection to back in Pakistan.

The Fourth Wall

A teacher speaks in a thought bubble in Ms. Marvel trailer.

While it could be an artifact of the trailer itself, there's a tantalizing suggestion that the series may break the fourth wall. One of the most fascinating reveals from the trailer shows characters speaking in word balloons.

The MCU logo also appears in a thought bubble from Kamala Khan and combined with the hints of her dream or fantasy life in the trailer, tease a possible break of the fourth wall in the series along the lines of Deadpool, though likely not that extreme.
