New set photos from Ms. Marvel reveal the first look at Kamala Khan's superhero costume in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The upcoming Disney+ show was announced at D23 in 2019 along with She-Hulk and Moon Knight as part of the second wave of shows Marvel Studios was developing. Ms. Marvel stars newcomer Iman Vellani as the fan-favorite hero from the comics, who is a Pakistani-American teenager, an Inhuman, and a Captain Marvel superfan.
After the initial announcement of Ms. Marvel, the series has moved forward relatively fast. Marvel Studios started production on the series in 2020 and it didn't take long for some set photos to surface. The good news for Marvel is that the set photos weren't too revealing. To the surprise of many fans, we've already seen some footage from Ms. Marvel thanks to an early look shared by Marvel Studios at the end of the last year. None of these looks showed Iman Vellani in Kamala Khan's actual Ms. Marvel costume though.
Now, Just Jared has published a new series of set photos for Ms. Marvel that reveal Kamala Khan's MCU costume. The images come as production continues in Atlanta, Georgia on the Disney+ series and offers the first look at her suit. Vellani films the scene with her Ms. Marvel co-star Rish Shah, who is playing Kamran. Check out Kamala Khan's MCU costume below:
As the first look at what should be Kamala Khan's final costume in Ms. Marvel, fans of her in the comics will be pleased to see how comic-accurate it is. There are some slight variations, such as the design of the emblem on her chest being more elastic-looking. But, Kamala still has her red hijab/scarf around her neck and the bracelet on her left wrist. Even though this isn't an official look at Ms. Marvel's costume, it appears to be another excellent suit coming to the MCU in Phase 4 to go along with Scarlet Witch's new costume, Sam Wilson's Captain America suit, and the suits Kate Bishop and Clint Barton wear in Hawkeye.
The costume reveal is obviously the most exciting part of these Ms. Marvel set photos, but there are also some other intriguing details potentially included. Kamala is allowed inside a police barrier to approach Kamran, which could indicate that she's respected enough as a hero that she's viewed as an ally to law enforcement. Meanwhile, Kamran is also an Inhuman and looks to be in some sort of pain or emotional distress. It is possible this scene will feature him being exposed to Terrigen Mist and getting his powers. With Ms. Marvel confirmed to launch on Disney+ in late-2021, it won't be long before fans get to see this scene and Kamala Khan's suit in action.
