Marvel unveils a new Ms. Marvel poster giving the best look at the character's Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero costume yet. Iman Vellani is leading the new Disney+ series as Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American teenager living in Jersey City obsessed with superhero culture and the various heroes in the world, namely Captain Marvel. As she tries to navigate the tricky world of high school, Kamala comes in possession of magical bangles that gives her the ability to harness cosmic energy and puts her on the path to become her own hero.

Alongside Vellani, the cast for Ms. Marvel includes Aramis Knight, Matt Lintz, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Nakli and Travina Springer. The MCU series was first announced to be in development in 2019 when Marvel Studios greenlit the show amongst a variety of other projects and after having worked for a few years to bring the character to life on the screen, with plans to release after the Captain Marvel movie. With production on Ms. Marvel having concluded last May and current MCU series Moon Knight halfway through its run, the studio behind the shows are looking to keep anticipation high for the future.

Ms. Marvel Poster

The marketing for Ms. Marvel has nicely slowly built up to showing off more of the titular heroine's MCU costume, with the first trailer shown during Disney+ Day offering brief glimpses of her character and powers, namely her homemade one based on her love of Captain Marvel. The most recent Ms. Marvel trailer offered better looks at the character in her super-powered state while the previous poster revealed her comics-accurate appearance of her flowing red scarf and lightning bolt running down her chest, though the new poster indicates a change from a golden bolt to a red one. The new Ms. Marvel poster also offers an exciting look at her first costume as she takes flight and with her best friend Bruno holding her helmet.

Outside of giving a best look at the MCU costume yet, the new Ms. Marvel poster also nicely highlights the series' exploration of the character's Muslim and Pakistani heritage. The past two phases of the MCU have seen Marvel expand their diversity both in front of and behind the camera, namely with Chadwick Boseman's Black Panther and Simu Liu's Shang-Chi, and Vellani's Kamala Khan marks another important step in this effort. Only time will tell if their efforts pay off when Ms. Marvel hits Disney+ on June 8.
