Disney+ show Ms. Marvel has wrapped filming in Thailand. Kamala Khan is slated to make her MCU debut later this year as part of the streamer's 2021 slate that includes shows like Hawkeye and What If..? Ms. Marvel has been a fan-favorite character since her comics debut in 2013 and, seeing the potential, the studio announced a television series centered around the character at D23 in 2019. Kamala Khan will be played by Iman Vellani and she'll be joined by Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Matt Lintz, Zenobia Shroff, and Mohan Kapur.

Set photos have given a glimpse at Ms. Marvel's costume, but other details surrounding the show have remained under wraps. Still, it's clear the MCU has big plans for the character - Vellani is slated to reprise her role in 2022's The Marvels, a sequel to Brie Larson's Captain Marvel. It remains to be seen if Larson will be popping up in Ms. Marvel, but her character has served as a massive influence on Kamala Khan so she will at least have somewhat of a presence in the series.

Now, with Vellani likely gearing up for The Marvels shoot this summer, Variety has announced that Ms. Marvel has wrapped filming. Production had moved to Thailand for its fourth and fifth episodes after filming the bulk of the series in Georgia. Ms. Marvel completed shooting under strict safety protocols as Thailand experienced a resurgence of the coronavirus. Fortunately, they managed to complete production in an entirely safe manner.

Marvel has come out of the gate strong with their Disney+ series. Hits like WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier gave the streamer massive ratings and garnered positive responses from both fans and critics. However, barring any unforeseen schedule changes, Ms. Marvel will be the first MCU series to have a completely new character headline. Hawkeye will introduce Kate Bishop later this year and Loki looks set to fill out its cast of characters with newcomers as well, but Kamala Khan will be front-and-center in her first outing.

This will make Ms. Marvel a truly interesting moment in the MCU's foray into streaming on Disney+. Can a show with a recognizable hero, but without any major names attached, make a splash in the crowded streaming landscape? The answer seems to be yes, if only because Marvel has proven time and time again that they have a knack for taking more obscure comics characters and making them into household names (see: Guardians of the Galaxy). Fortunately, fans won't have to wait too long to get their first glimpse at the hero. With Ms. Marvel's filming wrapped, it will likely only be a few months until she makes her Disney+ debut.
