Matt Lintz, who plays Bruno Carrelli on the upcoming MCU series Ms. Marvel, shares his funny audition story. Ms. Marvel will be the second live-action Marvel series on Disney+ to introduce a brand new lead hero after Moon Knight. Premiering on the service on June 8, 2022, the six-episode series follows Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, a teenage girl who daydreams about being a superhero, and eventually gets powers when she acquires Nega-Bands that can harness cosmic energy. She will also be featured in The Marvels, the sequel to Captain Marvel, which is coming in winter 2023.

On the series, Matt Lintz, who is best known for playing Henry on The Walking Dead and Stevie Taggert on The Alienist, plays Bruno Carrelli. He is Kamala's best friend and the only person who knows she has acquired her powers. Although his arc in the series is still largely unknown, in the original comics he eventually moves away to Wakanda. Before that, however, he functions as the "guy in the chair" as coined by Spider-Man's best friend Ned.

Screen Rant had the opportunity to attend the premiere of Moon Knight and spoke to Matt Lintz about getting the part of Bruno. He reveals that he was "taking a nap" when his phone rang and he "almost didn't answer it." Even though he did pick up, he answered without even looking at the screen. That's when he found out it was his team calling to tell him he got the role on Ms. Marvel. He says he "just lost it." Read his full quote below:

So basically what happened was, I went through the audition process, was done with that, and actually, I was taking a nap. I was laying down. I know exactly how I was because it was just insane. I was laying down, and my phone starts ringing, and I almost didn't answer it. I didn't even check who it was. I just picked it up. I was like, "Hello." It was my team. He was like, "Hey, Matt, guess what?" I was like, "What?" "You're in Ms. Marvel," and I just lost it. To be a part of such a project like that, Ms. Marvel, it's something so new and refreshing that fans of Marvel haven't seen yet on [a] live-action screen is just something amazing.

Matt Lintz as Henry on The Walking Dead

Lintz has appeared in a number of movies and TV shows throughout his young career (including The Walking Dead), but landing a role in Ms. Marvel is arguably his most high-profile part to date. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is currently the biggest franchise in the industry, showing no signs of slowing down. With that in mind, Lintz's enthusiasm for joining Ms. Marvel is understandable. This is obviously a major stepping stone for him as he expands his filmography. If Ms. Marvel is a hit and audiences respond positively to Bruno, Lintz could use the MCU as a launch pad for even more opportunities, in addition to a future with Marvel. It will be exciting to see what he brings to the role.

As a show set in high school, Ms. Marvel will be introducing a lot of new young actors to the big time. If everyone involved in the cast is as open and charismatic as Lintz, there will be a whole heap of new stars for fans to obsess over coming to their screens soon. It will likely be very similar to the way that Spider-Man: Homecoming's high school ensemble all came into their own throughout the trilogy.
