Ms. Marvel writer, Fatimah Asghar, wants Kamala Khan to the meet Wolverine in a possible season 2. Iman Vellani stars as the titular character, a Jersey City high school student who is granted cosmic powers thanks to her great-grandmother's mysterious bangles. However, in the series finale, it is revealed that there is more to Kamala's superpower origins than originally thought.
After closing the gateway through the Veil of Noor and defeating Damage Control, Bruno Carrelli (Matt Lintz) explains to Kamala that not only is she a Djinn who can access the Noor, she also has a mutation in her genes that makes her different as well. With Bruno's revelation, Kamala became one of the first official mutants in the MCU. Following Disney's purchase of 20th Century Fox, the MCU has gained access to Fox's rights to Mutants and the X-Men and has begun to introduce them into the shared universe. With a Deadpool film in production as well as a sequel series to the original X-Men animated show from 1992, fans have speculated if the X-Men will be properly introduced in the MCU.
In a recent interview with The Direct, Asghar revealed that she wants Kamala to meet Wolverine in a potential Ms. Marvel season 2. Although no second season has been announced for Ms. Marvel, however, if one was to occur, the writer would love to see Kamala interact with Wolverine due to their conflicting personalities. Read what Asghar said below.
"Like, I think about the character of Wolverine and having Kamala, like, riff off of Wolverine… that exists in the comics... I think that there's that moment where like, Wolverine comes and helps her, I've always loved that. And I think that if we ever got to see that, you know, I know that that's complicated… but if we ever got to see that, I think that would be so cool, because it's just fun to see her, you know, be a fan to people who are kind of jaded and annoyed. And to kind of just to have that banter. And so I think that putting her with someone like Wolverine, you know, it's such a great kind of moment of synastry."
Asghar understands that Kamala's generally upbeat nature would clash with that of Wolverine's, a mutant who is generally serious and pessimistic. Although he has a rough exterior, Wolverine is known to have a kind heart that allows him to closely care for those dear, such as his father-daughter relationship with the mutant Jubilee. However, such a pairing would be unlikely at this point as Ms. Marvel is not slated to receive a second season and Wolverine has yet to be introduced into the MCU.
If Wolverine would ever meet Kamala in Ms. Marvel season 2 or a movie, their dynamic would most likely resemble that of a buddy cop film, similar to popular movies such as 48 Hours, Rush Hour, and Bad Boys. The genre sets up two unlikely partners with opposing personalities on a mission together. Throughout their journey, they fight and argue while their individual quirks complement the other's as they reach their goal. Although both Ms. Marvel and Wolverine are a long way from teaming up, their partnership would undoubtedly be welcomed by audiences.
