Aramis Knight, who plays Kareem. a.k.a. Red Dagger on Ms. Marvel, talks about returning to the series for a potential season 2 of the Disney+ drama. One of the latest entries in the MCU is Ms. Marvel, one of the newest Disney+ originals to come from Marvel Studios. Centered around Kamala Khan, played by Iman Vellani, Ms. Marvel follows the story of a passionate teenage girl in New Jersey whose life changes the day she discovers she has cosmic-like powers.

As Ms. Marvel is reaching the end of season 1, the show is prepping Kamala's arrival in the larger MCU. The Disney+ show was always meant to serve as her origin story before eventually working together with Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau in the Captain Marvel sequel, The Marvels. Throughout Ms. Marvel season 1, one of the new allies that Kamala made along the way was Kareem, better known as Red Dagger in the Marvel Universe. Both Ms. Marvel episode 4 and 5 focused on establishing Kamala and Kareem's alliance, which is part of the Marvel comics, before parting ways, for the time being.

With the Ms. Marvel finale set to air this coming Wednesday (July 13,) time will tell whether or not there is a season 2 of the MCU drama. In an exclusive interview with Screen Rant, Aramis Knight, who plays Red Dagger on Ms. Marvel, talked about the potential for more of Kareem beyond season 1. While Marvel Studios nor Disney+ have made any formal announcements about Ms. Marvel season 2, Knight assured that if the show comes back, then so will he, simply saying, "Yeah, if there is a season 2, I will be back."

Ms Marvel Red dagger

Since Disney+'s launch, Marvel Studios has only proceeded to give a handful of MCU shows a season 2 renewal. Loki and What If...? are so far the only MCU shows to have been picked up for another season, while other projects like Moon Knight, WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, and Hawkeye have been executed as "limited series." However, something to support the idea that maybe Ms. Marvel will get a season 2 is a scene initially shot to tease more of Red Dagger's Marvel future. Knight mentioned in Screen Rant's exclusive interview how a scene was filmed where they alluded to Red Dagger coming to New Jersey, similar to the comic lore before the scene got reshot and the dialogue was reworked.

Why that dialogue got taken out remains to be seen, but at this point, it wouldn't be a shock if Ms. Marvel returns for season 2. Whatever happens in The Marvels could easily set up another season for Ms. Marvel, especially as she is not only one of the newest heroes in the MCU but one of its youngest. Having multiple seasons to follow Kamala during and after MCU's Phase 4 through high school while figuring out her superhero life would be proper to do in a TV format rather than rush through it in a 2-hour film. If that were to be the case, having Red Dagger return in Ms. Marvel season 2 and beyond would allow his character to get further expanded upon alongside the other players in the series.
