Warning! This article contains spoilers for Ms. Marvel episode 6.

Ms. Marvel has come to a close, with its six-episode run setting up big things for Kamala's future in the MCU, leading many to wonder what is known about season 2 of the show. While it has been confirmed that Kamala Khan will appear in 2023's The Marvels, not a lot has been mentioned about a second season of her show. While the post-credits scene of Ms. Marvel episode 6 certainly lays the groundwork for The Marvels, it is worth exploring how the show also leaves things off for season 2.

Ms. Marvel chronicled the origins of Kamala Khan, exploring Ms. Marvel's powers gained from a secretive bracelet passed down through generations. From this to Kamala's family, and the exploration of culture, religion, and Kamala's school life, Ms. Marvel has been a delight that leaves many things left to explore for a sophomore season. One of the more endearing aspects of Ms. Marvel was simply seeing the character interactions and developments between Kamala, her friends, and her family members.

While The Marvels likely won't focus on this and will deal with Kamala entering the more cosmic side of the MCU alongside Carol Danvers, season 2 of Ms. Marvel has a lot to focus on, set up in the finale. Despite the controversy over Ms. Marvel's MCU power change, Kamala's journey has been a joy to witness and a second season would only be welcomed. Here is everything that is currently known about a potential Ms. Marvel season 2.

Is Ms. Marvel Season 2 Happening?

Why is Ms Marvel so different from the MCU

The first question to answer is the most obvious, and that is whether Ms. Marvel season 2 will happen at all. Keeping in tradition with the MCU's many Disney+ shows, Ms. Marvel was initially ordered as a limited series. As of yet, only Loki has received a second season in the MCU. Whether Ms. Marvel will follow suit remains to be confirmed by Marvel Studios. However, one similarity with Ms. Marvel and the other Disney+ shows comes with the already confirmed appearance of Kamala in The Marvels. As with WandaVision leading into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the story of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier being continued by Captain America 4, it seems Ms. Marvel is continuing its main character's story in a feature film as opposed to a second season.

Granted, that isn't to say a second season isn't possible. While Kamala's next MCU journey will be shown in The Marvels in 2023, that film could certainly end with a setup for Ms. Marvel season 2. Whether or not this is the case won't be known until The Marvels releases in theatres. However, with Ms. Marvel being the highest-rated project on Rotten Tomatoes in the entire MCU, Marvel Studios would be foolish not to bring Kamala Khan back for Ms. Marvel season 2.

Ms. Marvel Season 2 Story Set-Up

Ms marvel episode 5 questions kamala kamran

Arguably the biggest way the show sets up the Ms. Marvel season 2 story outside of other MCU projects is through Ms. Marvel's Kamran. The season finale introduced Kamran's new abilities that are similar to Kamala's. The finale also featured Kamran's inability to control his newfound powers alongside the grief at his mother's death. In order to save Kamran, Kamala sends him to Karachi where he meets up with the Red Daggers, who have been the enemies of Kamran's family for generations. This seems to be the main story thread, outside of Kamala's other friends and family and the major set-ups for other projects, that would be explored in season 2, with the long-standing feud between the Red Daggers and the Clandestines offering up ample story potential for Kamala to have to deal with going forward.

How Ms. Marvel Sets Up The Marvels & X-Men

Captain Marvel cares about one MCU hero more than anyone.

However, the other major set-ups for other projects are through the Ms. Marvel finale and its post-credits scene. In the scene, Kamala's bangle radiates with a new energy and blasts her through her closet. However, it is Carol Danvers who stands up from the mess, being confused by her surroundings. While this obviously sets up the story of The Marvels, there are many ways this could tie into season 2. From the obvious relationship being set up between Kamala and Carol to the further exploration of Kamala's cosmic abilities, Ms. Marvel's season finale sets up a season 2 in many ways.

Another setup gives the MCU's Earth-616 the first introduction of the X-Men through Kamala herself. While Kamala in the comics was an Inhuman, the MCU has opted to make Kamala the very first mutant (outside of Earth-838's Professor X). In Ms. Marvel episode 6, Bruno reveals that he looked into Kamala's genes in comparison to her family to figure out why Kamala herself could manipulate the Noor. Upon doing so, he discovers that Kamala's DNA has some sort of mutation, with his line in the episode accompanied by the classic X-Men: The Animated Series theme that was also found in Doctor Strange 2.

Ms. Marvel season 2 Cast: Who Can Return

In terms of a potential Ms. Marvel season 2 cast, it would sense for all the major cast members of season 1 to return. Obviously, the lead actress herself Iman Vellani would return in the titular role, alongside Matt Lintz and Yasmeen Fletcher as Bruno and Nakia respectively, Kamala's best friends. Also, Aramis Knight as Ms. Marvels Red Dagger and Rish Shah as Kamran would return. Finally, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur. and Saagar Shaikh would be expected to return as Kamala's mother, father, and brother respectively, given season 1's focus on Kamala's familial relations.

As for a potential release date, it would make sense for Ms. Marvel season 2 to come in 2024 or beyond. Given Kamala's next appearance in The Marvels in 2023, the next step in her journey will come after this, leaving Ms. Marvel season 2 to be released in the next few years after The Marvels' cinematic release. Regardless, it remains to be seen whether Marvel Studios will confirm a season 2 at all, something that will also likely come after The Marvels.
