Ms. Marvel creator Sana Amanat reveals how her character Kamala Khan compares to other MCU heroes like Captain America. Steve Rogers had been one of the backbones of the MCU since Chris Evans first played the character in Captain America: The First Avenger in 2011. Captain America had appeared in all of the big team-up movies before he retired after returning the Infinity Stones in Avengers: EndgameSteve is said to still be alive, but Marvel's plans for the character are unknown.

On the other hand, Kamala Khan is a brand new MCU hero set to make her debut in June. Ms. Marvel is the next MCU TV show on Disney+ following the conclusion of Moon Knight, which still has four episodes to air. Iman Vellani will lead the series as Kamala Khan, a Pakistani American who is enamored with the Avengers and dreams of one day getting superpowers of her own. While the comics allowed Kamala to change her molecular structure to alter her physical appearance, the MCU show will give her powers through some sort of alien bracelet that allows her to manipulate energy.

Now, the creator of Ms. Marvel is breaking down how Kamala Khan is different from the MCU's other popular characters, claiming she "isn't your traditional Avenger." Amanat revealed to Empire that Vellani is just as big a superhero fan as Kamala before saying that Ms. Marvel isn't as "slick and suave" as other heroes. The Ms. Marvel creator specifically compared her to Captain America and how he can make his shield come back to him after throwing it at enemies. Amanat's full quotes can be read below:

She showed me every corner of her room, and it was covered with Avengers. Then she said, ‘Oh wait, I’m not done’, opened up her closet, and there was more Marvel everywhere.

She’s not as slick and suave as some superheroes. It’s not like when Captain America throws his shield and it comes back. She’s all over the place. I’m excited for people to get to know her.

It's clear Ms. Marvel is set to be a very different character, and her being a Muslim Pakistani American also helps the MCU diversify its heroes. It makes sense that Kamala will be "all over the place" in the series since Ms. Marvel will show her origin story and her early days of using her powers. That being said, her arc is just beginning. Kamala Khan will likely have a big presence in the MCU going forward and is set to appear in The Marvels alongside Brie Larson and Teyonah Parris. Ms. Marvel may be a young and inexperienced hero in her debut series, but that will undoubtedly change as she ages and appears in more MCU projects.

Ms. Marvel looks to be one of Disney+'s most unique and kid-friendly MCU shows. With a TV-PG rating, Ms. Marvel seems to be stepping away from the serious spinoff shows like Moon Knight and Loki to provide the MCU with a more upbeat and light-hearted addition. Disney doesn't look to be slowing down on MCU projects anytime soon, but with superhero fatigue being a concern among some audiences, making Ms. Marvel unlike other MCU heroes could be just what the franchise needs.
