Ms. Marvel episode 2 secretly teases how Kamala Khan might be an Inhuman in the MCU after all. Introducing Iman Vellani's young superhero to the MCU has been a smash hit, even after the pre-release debate about Marvel Studios altering her powers for the Disney+ series. Ever since her comic debut, Kamala Khan's powers and story have been tied to the Inhumans, a group of superhumans created by the Kree. But after the failed Inhumans TV show, all signs pointed to Ms. Marvel avoiding these connections for the MCU.

The possibility of Kamala Khan not being an Inhuman proved to be controversial, as fans of the character understandably wanted to see her embiggening powers on full display and for her to help the MCU introduce Inhumans. Ms. Marvel episode 1 gave audiences a better idea of Kamala's new origin, which indicated she has cosmic powers that come from a bangle connected to her family's past. Even though the MCU gave Ms. Marvel energy-based powers where she could create constructs, the changes were generally well-received and appeared to be a small victory for Marvel Studios in having audiences accept her new abilities.

Just as viewers grow comfortable with the idea that Kamala Khan will not be an Inhuman in the MCU, however, Ms. Marvel episode 2, "Crushed," teases a way for this to still be the case. A big focus of the episode is on Kamala training to control her powers and working with her best friend Bruno to better understand them and the bangle. Ms. Marvel episode 2 leaves the door open for an Inhuman connection through the explanation that's to come. Bruno mentions that Kamala's powers come from inside her and that the bangle seemingly “unlocked the superhuman part.” In the comics, people with latent Inhuman powers only gain their abilities after going through Terrigenesis, a process where they are exposed to Terrigen Mists then become cocooned and break free after the transformation finalizes. It is possible Ms. Marvel's bangle triggered the MCU's version of Terrigenesis to unlock Kamala's Inhuman powers.

How Ms Marvel MCU Powers Change From Comics SR

Thanks to Bruno's reveal in Ms. Marvel episode 2, Kamala's powers could take on a completely different context. He and Kamala both agree that the bangle has some unidentifiable language on it. If this is the Inhumans' language, then the Ms. Marvel bangle could further explain what is going on with Kamala. Instead of fully going through the Terrigenesis process, Ms. Marvel's bracelet could be a glimpse of what her Inhuman powers are. The crystal-looking energy design to them could even be rooted in the Terrigen crystals that are key to unlocking their powers.

It is now possible that Marvel Studios was playing the long game all along with Kamala's powers and setting up her Inhumans ties. This might mean that she will not learn the truth until the end of Ms. Marvel or even in The Marvels. Either case would mean that Kamala can help bring a proper Inhumans mythology to the MCU. Considering Marvel just featured the Inhumans' silent but powerful leader Black Bolt (Anson Mount) in Doctor Strange 2, it would make a lot of sense for Ms. Marvel to build on this tease. But, it now does not seem far-fetched to believe Kamala Khan will be an Inhuman in the MCU after all.
