Ms. Marvel star Iman Vellani gave Captain Marvel a negative review online. The up-and-coming Canadian actress was recently cast as Kamala Khan in the MCU. She'll spearhead her series on Disney+ led by Bad Boys for Life duo Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah. However, before she even joined the franchise, she's already plugged into the universe by keeping track of their movie offerings, including the Brie Larson-led film Captain Marvel.

The Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck-directed film, released in early 2019, officially debuted Carol Danvers in the MCU after being teased at the end of Avengers: Infinity War. Predating the events of Robert Downey Jr. and Jon Favreau's Iron Man, the film is set in 1995 and features a young and still two-eyed Nick Fury's (Samuel L. Jackson) first encounters with aliens on Earth. Carol was initially perceived to be one of them until they realized the Kree had abducted her from Earth years prior. Captain Marvel earned more than $1.1 billion at the global box office, but not everyone was a fan of it, apparently including Vellani.

The upcoming Ms. Marvel actress reviewed Captain Marvel on her personal Letterboxd account and gave it a two-star rating out of five. She explained, however, that this is by no means about Larson or her acting. In fact, Vellani says she's a fan of Larson. As seen in the post, she watched the film back in February of 2019 — long before casting for Kamala Khan began, so it's safe to say this is her real thoughts about the movie. Check out the screenshot of her review below:

Admittedly, while the film proved to be a massive hit for Marvel Studios, it has its flaws. The film's pacing was off at times, and the story becomes a bit too convoluted, especially with a lot of moving pieces. So, while it's a decent MCU installment, it's not one of their best. That said, Captain Marvel has some brilliant moments mostly stemming from their characterization of Carol Danvers as a woman held back for most of her life. No one can also fault the performance from the stellar ensemble cast. Fans seem to agree with Vellani's review of the film in the comments section of her Letterboxd page; there are some minor disagreements, but for the most part, they are in unison with her opinion of the movie.

While some might not concur with Vellani's review of Captain Marvel, the actress not digging the film isn't a cause for concern at all. Looking at her Letterboxd account, it's clear she has watched and rated many movies. For most of them, she wrote witty briefs giving fans an indication of her personality. If anything, her support of Brie Larson only makes people more excited about her debut in Ms. Marvel and perhaps to join Carol Danvers on the big screen in the future.
