Warning! Spoilers ahead for Ms. Marvel.

Through Ms. Marvel, the MCU just insulted the Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy in multiple ways. Marvel Studios' seventh Disney+ series officially introduces Iman Vellani as Kamala Khan, who is obsessed with the franchise's superheroes—particularly Captain Marvel (Brie Larson). In Ms. Marvel episode 1, Kamala and her friend, Bruno (Matt Lintz), attend the very first AvengerCon.

Set a year or two after Avengers: Endgame, AvengerCon informs what the Avengers and all other heroes in the MCU's public image are following the defeat of Thanos (Josh Brolin). On the heels of projects like WandaVision and Spider-Man: No Way Home, this is the first time that Marvel Studios is highlighting just how beloved Earth Mightiest Heroes remain despite some branding issues. Moreso, the event is a fun way to incorporate a lot of fun references to the bigger franchise that the Disney+ show is a part of.

Despite the name, Ms. Marvel's AvengerCon also features the Guardians of the Galaxy. In fact, the cosmic heroes have a heavy presence at the convention having many people cosplaying them. Between this and the tributes to the established Avengers, however, it seems like the perfect way to celebrate the MCU and its heroes. That isn't the case, however, as Marvel Studios inadvertently insults its own heroes through AvengerCon.

No Spider-Man

Spider Man No Way Home

As one of the most recognizable heroes in the MCU, Ms. Marvel's AvengerCon doesn't have any kind of reference to Spider-Man (Tom Holland). What makes this odder is the fact that AvengerCon is set in Camp Leigh High in New Jersey which isn't that far from Queens, New York where the web-slinging hero is based. If anything, news of Peter Parker's adventure should be something that Kamala and her friends are talking about because like her, he's in the same age range. Granted that it has something to do with Sony's ownership of Spider-Man, it's still off-putting that the iconic hero is totally absent from AvengerCon.

There's no Sam Wilson as Captain America nods (or even as Falcon)

Sam Wilson as the new Captain America in Falcon And The Winter Soldier

Similar to Spider-Man, Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie) is also nowhere to be found in Ms. Marvel's AvengerCon. There's no reference to either his Falcon or Captain America persona. It's worth noting that at this point, Wilson has already publicly assumed the persona of the new Star-Spangled Avenger as The Falcon and the Winter Soldier takes place six months after Avengers: Endgame. While AvengerCon is chockfull of Captain America tributes, they are all referencing Rogers' iteration and not Wilson's.

War Machine is completely missing

Rhodey in the MCU

Rounding up all the notable missing MCU heroes from Ms. Marvel's AvengerCon is James "Rhodey" Rhodes aka War Machine (Don Cheadle). Iron Man's (Robert Downey Jr.) best friend is last seen in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier where he appears to be working again with the government — something that Rhodey's Secret Invasion role supports. Despite reclaiming his public identity, both as an Avenger and a military man, it seems like AvengerCon totally forgot about War Machine, like Spider-Man and Falcon.

Rocket Raccoon is called "Trash Panda" (and is a stuffed toy)

Aside from the Avengers, Ms. Marvel's AvengerCon also prominently features the Guardians of the Galaxy. Unfortunately, not all the tributes to the cosmic heroes are flattering. Case in point is Rocket Raccoon's (voiced by Bradley Cooper) nickname as "Trash Panda." To make matters worse, he comes in as a stuffed toy as part of the event's merchandise, as well. While this usually shouldn't be a problem, given Rocket's tragic origins story as an experimented creature, this highlights that.

Groot is called "Mr. Tree"

Rocket's partner, Groot (voiced by the Vin Diesel) also gets his own nickname in "Mr. Tree." It's clearly inspired by Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) pet name for the Guardians of the Galaxy in Avengers: Infinity War. That being said, while not as insulting as his closest friend, Groot's moniker in Ms. Marvel's AvengerCon fails to acknowledge how unique of a creature he is.

Peter Quill is referred to as "Star-Boy"

Rocket and Groot aren't the only Guardians of the Galaxy members who get nicknames in Ms. Marvel's AvengerCon; Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) gets a pet name as well. Primarily because of his ties to Earth, a documentary about his life is being advertised at the event. Instead of using his real name, however, he is dubbed "Star-Boy" instead. Somehow, it's a reminder of the character's childish tendency and not in a charming way.

Hulk is just the one who smashes

Ms. Marvel's AvengerCon seems to completely ignore the existence of Smart Hulk (Mark Ruffalo). The only version of the character featured in the event is the green-rage monster which no longer operates after Bruce Banner found a way to bring his two identities together. Despite that, the organizers of AvengerCon, as well as the attendees who cosplay as the Avenger fail to acknowledge that, only focusing on the mindless version of the Hulk.

Black Widow appears to be completely missing from cosplays too

Ms. Marvel AvengerCon Sokovia Accords

Years after her consequential sacrifice in Avengers: Endgame, Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) is finally honored via Ms. Marvel's AvengerCon. She and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) appear on a mural that celebrates the pair's legacy. The problem is, no one appears to cosplay her which is odd considering that her costume is potentially one of the easiest superhero battle get-ups to come up with. If some fans can spend time getting all painted up as Drax the Destroyer (Dave Bautista) and Gamora (Zoe Saldana), it should be easy to attend AvengerCon as the first female member of Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

Vision is missing from the "thank you for your sacrifice" mural

Vision's Avengers Infinity War death

Black Widow gets the same recognition that Iron Man has had with regard to their contributions to fighting Thanos in Ms. Marvel's AvengerCon, but another member of the Avengers is missing from the tribute — Vision (Paul Bettany). While the synthezoid didn't get resurrected by Smart Hulk's reverse snap and wasn't part of either the time heist or final battle in Avengers: Endgame, he also died defending Earth against Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. He decided to give up his life so that the Titan couldn't get his hands on the Mind Stone. No wonder Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) is upset that her and Vision's contributions to the fight against Thanos are never acknowledged as she blatantly said in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. If the Guardians of the Galaxy are praised for their involvement, then Vision should also be subjected to the same treatment.
