Where can Stephen King adaptation Mr. Mercedes be watched online and is it on Netflix, Hulu or Prime? Stephen King is one of the most adapted authors of all time, with the vast majority of his novels having received a movie or TV version. Some of the most acclaimed films based on his work include The Shining - though the author himself has famously expressed distaste of the 1980 movie - The Shawshank Redemption and The Mist. King himself once stepped behind the camera for 1986's Maximum Overdrive, which was a huge mess but has received a cult following.

Some of Stephen King's novels are sprawling behemoths that are difficult to shrink down to movie length. Some are better suited to miniseries or TV series form, with some of the better examples being Salem's Lot from director Tobe Hooper, Castle Rock and the underrated Storm Of The Century. That's not to say they all work out, however, with the adaption of Under The Dome being considered a dud.

Mr. Mercedes is a 2014 Stephen King novel that saw a retired detective named Bill Hodges being tormented by a serial killer named Brady Hartsfield, who is also known by his alter-ego Mr. Mercedes. He drove a Mercedes into a group of people, with the case - which was one of Hodges' last before retirement - going unsolved. The pair soon do battle over the course of a trilogy of Stephen King books. Audience Network adapted Mr. Mercedes, casting the great Brendan Gleeson and Harry Treadaway as Hodges and Brady respectively. The serial killer show is not currently available to stream from Netflix, Hulu or Amazon Prime in the U.S.

Where To Watch Mr. Mercedes Online

The first two seasons of Mr. Mercedes can be found on NBC Universal's Peacock streaming service, as well as the free library-associated streamer Hoopla. The show is also available to purchase from platforms like iTunes, Google Play, Vudu and Amazon. For the large part, all three seasons of Mr. Mercedes have received great reviews and the show is considered one of the strongest televisions adaptations of King's work to date.

Sadly, it appears there won't be a fourth season of Mr. Mercedes as the Audience Network was shut down in early 2020. While it's possible it could return for another season if it gets picked up by another network or platform, such as the aforementioned Peacock, there's no sign of the series continuing. The show also featured a cameo appearance by Stephen King during the first season, where he doesn't fare well in one of Brady's gory daydreams.

There's some good news for America's neighbors to the north that might want to check out Mr. Mercedes, as all three seasons are in fact available to stream via Amazon Prime Video in Canada, in addition to Hoopla and Illico availability. Illico is a service primarily catering to French speakers, of which there are of course many in Canada. Across the pond in the U.K., Mr. Mercedes' fragmented streaming rights have all three seasons of the Stephen King-based TV show currently available to watch on Starz and Virgin TV Go.
