Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019)

The crypto-zoological agency Monarch faces off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah.

This is the latest installment in Legendary's MonsterVerse and is the sequel to 2014's Godzilla. It was officially announced by the studio after the first film opened in theaters, and the expectation was director Gareth Edwards would return. Edwards departed the project in 2016 and Mike Dougherty was hired as a replacement in 2017. Production on the film ran from June - September 2017.

The movie was originally planned for release in June 2018, but Warner Bros. pushed it back to 2019.

This is the third installment of the John Wick franchise, which revitalized Keanu Reeves' career as an action star. The original film was released in 2014 and gained a cult following due to its intricate world-building and stunning set pieces. Due to the film's moderate budget, John Wick was successful commercially, earning $88.7 million at the worldwide box office. A sequel was released in 2017 and was an even bigger hit, earning $171.5 million globally. It too was critically acclaimed, setting the stage for an explosive trilogy finale. John Wick is now a multi-media franchise with comic books and a virtual-reality experience.

Detective Pikachu (2019)

In a world where people collect pocket-size monsters (Pokémon) to do battle, a boy comes across an intelligent monster who seeks to be a detective.

This is a live-action film set within the Pokémon franchise, which has been popular since the 1990s. There previously have been several animated movies based on the property. Detective Pikachu entered development in 2016, shortly after mobile game Pokémon Go became a sensation. Director Rob Letterman signed on to helm in November of that year and the cast rounded into shape during 2017. The film started principal photography in January 2018 and ran until May of that year.

Rocketman (2019)

The story of Elton John's life, from his years as a prodigy at the Royal Academy of Music through his influential and enduring musical partnership with Bernie Taupin.

This film first entered development back in 2011 and has had several rumored names attached. At one point, James McAvoy was to play Elton John, and later it was Tom Hardy's role. Paramount officially green lit Rocketman in April of 2018, with Taron Egerton cast in the lead role. It will be released in May 2019.

Elton John is one of the most popular musical artists of all-time. In his career, he has sold more than 300 million records and received five Grammy awards. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile (2019)

A chronicle of the crimes of Ted Bundy, from the perspective of his longtime girlfriend, Elizabeth Kloepfer, who refused to believe the truth about him for years.

The film was announced during the 2017 Cannes Film Festival, when Zac Efron had signed on to play Bundy. After the rest of the cast filled out, principal photography commenced in January 2018. Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile had its world premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival and will be released on Netflix.

The film was in development since 2013, but didn't start to gain real traction until 2017 when the director and cast came onboard. Production ran from October - December 2017.

The film was officially announced in 2016 and it started to make headway in 2017, when it went by the title Nasty Women. Anne Hathaway signed on that year, joining Rebel Wilson as the leads. Filming started in September 2017.

Long Shot (2019)

The film was officially announced in 2017, with Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron attached as the leads. The supporting cast rounded into shape following that and production commenced.

Long Shot will have its world premiere at the 2019 SXSW festival before opening in theaters. Due to positive test screenings, the studio decided to make it a summer release.

The film was first announced in February 2018 when Octavia Spencer was cast in the lead. Production started that month and ran until March 2018.
