X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)

Jean Grey begins to develop incredible powers that corrupt and turn her into a Dark Phoenix. Now the X-Men will have to decide if the life of a team member is worth more than all the people living in the world.

This film is a continuation of the rebooted X-Men film series that began with 2011's X-Men: First Class. It's a direct sequel to X-Men: Apocalypse, which first introduced new versions of characters like Jean Grey, Cyclops, and Storm. Similar to the other installments, Dark Phoenix is a period piece that takes place in the 1990s - continuing the trend of each X-Men film taking place in a different decade. Director Simon Kinberg is making his debut with the movie. Production started in June 2017 and wrapped October of that year.

Dark Phoenix was originally scheduled for release in November 2018, but was pushed back as Fox reorganized their lineup.

Toy Story 4 (2019)

Woody has always been confident about his place in the world and that his priority is taking care of his kid, whether that’s Andy or Bonnie. But when Bonnie adds a reluctant new toy called “Forky” to her room, a road trip adventure alongside old and new friends will show Woody how big the world can be for a toy.

This is the sequel to Toy Story 3, which was released in 2010. Toy Story 4 was first confirmed in 2014, when John Lasseter was set to co-direct. Since that original announcement, the film has gone through numerous changes behind the scenes, with Josh Cooley being named solo director and the script being substantially rewritten. At one point, the narrative was supposed to follow Woody and Buzz Lightyear on a quest to find Bo Peep.

Child's Play (2019)

A mother gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

This is a reboot of the classic Child's Play horror franchise, which features the killer Chucky doll. The property first launched with the original film in 1988 and spawned several sequels, comic books, shorts, and a video game. The last released movie was The Cult of Chucky in 2017. The reboot was officially announced in 2018.

Men in Black International (2019)

The Men in Black have always protected the Earth from the scum of the universe. In this new adventure, they tackle their biggest threat to date: a mole in the Men in Black organization.

This is the latest installment in the Men in Black franchise, which began with the original film in 1997. After the conclusion of that trilogy in 2012, Sony toyed with possible concepts to revive the property, including a crossover with the popular Jump Street reboot. Ultimately, the studio decided to go with a soft reboot starring new leads. In 2018, Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson signed on to star and the supporting cast followed shortly after that. Production began in July of that year and concluded in October 2018.

Annabelle Comes Home (2019)

Determined to keep Annabelle from wreaking more havoc, demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren bring the possessed doll to the locked artifacts room in their home, placing her "safety" behind sacred glass and enlisting a priest's holy blessing. But an unholy night of horror awaits as Annabelle awakens the evil spirits in the room, who all set their sights on a new target - the Warren's ten-year-old daughter Judy, and her babysitters.

The third installment in the Annabelle film series that was spun-off from The Conjuring franchise. Both the original Annabelle and its followup Annabelle: Creation (itself a prequel to the first Annabelle) take place before the original Conjuring movie.

In April 2018, Warner Bros. scheduled an untitled Conjuring cinematic universe film for Summer 2019 before revealing that it would be a third Annabelle film a week later.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 (2019)

The film continues the story of Max and his pet friends, following their secret lives after their owners leave them for work or school each day. This is the sequel to 2016's The Secret Life of Pets.

The Secret Life of Pets 2 was officially announced in 2016. Louis C.K., who voiced Max in the original, is not returning due to the sexual misconduct allegations he faced in 2017.

Shaft (2019)

John Shaft Jr., a cyber security expert with a degree from MIT, enlists his father's help to uncover the truth behind his best friend's untimely death.

This project officially moved through the pipeline in 2017 with the hiring of director Tim Story. Shortly after, the principal cast started to come together, including Samuel L. Jackson and Jessie Usher. Filming started in February 2018. Shaft is billed as the latest installment in the Shaft film franchise and will operate as a sequel to the 2000 film.

Late Night (2019)

A late-night talk show host suspects that she may soon be losing her long-running show.

The film has been in development since 2016, when Paul Feig was originally going to direct. Nisha Ganatra signed on in 2017, and the cast rounded into shape during 2018. Principal photography commenced in April of that year.

Late Night had its premiere at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival before its theatrical release.

Yesterday (2019)

Jack Malik is a struggling musician whose life is not getting any better. One day, a power outage and a collision with a vehicle leaves Jack hospitalized. Upon recovering, he discovers that the whole world has forgotten who The Beatles are. Seizing the opportunity, he takes the once great classic songs and makes them his own.

The film was officially announced in March 2018, and the cast filled out later that year. Filming started in April 2018. Originally, Yesterday was going to release in September 2019, but was moved up to June.
