The Predator (2018)

September 14, 2018
R
Action, Sci-Fi

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black's explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe's most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

In 2014, Fox officially announced the film, with Shane Black lined up to co-write and direct. The title of the movie was confirmed two years later, and Black revealed his intention to "event-ize" the Predator franchise. In regards to the series timeline, it is set after the first two Predator movies, but before the 2010 film. The main cast came together in 2016 and 2017, with principal photography running from February to June 2017.

The Predator reshot its entire third act, after Black realized it wasn't working. Test screening reactions also factored into the decision, as some were confused by the tone.
