Summary
- Netflix will be removing notable titles in April 2024, including The Nice Guys, Train to Busan, and Joker.
- Original content on Netflix has a limited time on the platform, with some major changes recently affecting the lineup.
- Apart from original content like Stranger Things, Netflix hosts Hollywood's biggest films, but they can leave on short notice.
Netflix has an ever-changing content library, meaning that while some great new titles arrive, some key shows and movies are leaving in April 2024. Since its inception, Netflix has positioned itself as the preeminent streaming service, and they were one of the first to delve into the world of original content, including the arrival of big hit films like Damsel and Spaceman last month. However, the streamer also has a great reputation for hosting other content, and they are a one-stop-shop for everything from classic series to some of Hollywood's biggest films like Godzilla and The Amazing Spider-Man.
Netflix alters its lineup every month, and many shows and movies on Netflix have a limited time on the platform. March 2024 saw the platform making some big changes with notable franchises marking their final days on Netflix. This included the first three movies in Keanu Reeves' John Wick franchise, starring Keanu Reeves and all of its DCEU movies, from Man of Steel to Shazam! Fury of the Gods on March 31st. April 2024 will mark the end of some more high-profile titles on Netflix which include some content that is exclusive to the streaming platform.

The Nice Guys, Train to Busan, And Joker Are Among This Month's Departure
The Nice Guys (2016)
Following his Oscar-nominated turn in Barbie, more fans are eager to see Ryan Gosling in comedic roles. However, perhaps Gosling's funniest performance to date will soon be leaving Netflix in April 2024. The Nice Guys is a period buddy crime movie starring Gosling as a lackluster private eye who teams up with a low-level enforcer (Russell Crowe) in order to solve a missing person's case.
The movie comes from filmmaker Shane Black, known for this brand of crime-comedies, including Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Gosling and Crowe make for a hilarious team as they make their way through this complex mystery as two reluctant heroes. While the movie was a disappointment at the box office, it has since gained a following, thanks in part to people finding it on Netflix, and there have been calls for The Nice Guys 2 ever since. Unfortunately, for now, Netflix users will only have a limited time to check out the underrated comedy.
Robert Downey Jr. has a hidden cameo in The Nice Guys.
Train To Busan (2016)
One of the best Korean zombie movies of all time will be leaving Netflix in April 2024. Train to Busan is a scary, action-packed, and surprisingly emotional entry into the horror subgenre that proved once again that zombie movies can still be exciting as long as there are filmmakers approaching them with a fresh take. The movie follows a group of survivors fighting for their lives as they are stuck aboard a speeding train as a zombie disease turns the other passengers into hungry monsters.
There are some great set pieces that make wonderful use of the confined setting of the movie. However, it is Train to Busan's characters that really make it a memorable horror movie with some of these passengers making for complex and interesting heroes while others are even more detestable than the zombies.
The Hateful Eight (2015)
Though not regarded as the best of Quentin Tarantino's movies, given the fact that the filmmaker is committed to only making 10, each of his movies is seen as a precious thing. So Tarantino fans will be sad to hear his dark Western movie The Hateful Eight will leave Netflix in April 2024 along with its extended edition. Combining the Western genre with elements of a thriller and a whodunit mystery, The Hateful Eight stars Samuel L. Jackson, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins, and Kurt Russell as a band of strangers stuck together in a cabin during a storm.
Netflix also partnered with Tarantino on a special presentation of the movie's extended edition, breaking the extra-long version into a miniseries with four chapters.
The movie contains Tarantino's typical dark humor and graphic violence while also utilizing the isolated setting that gives it a similar feel to his first movie, Reservoir Dogs. Netflix also partnered with Tarantino on a special presentation of the movie's extended edition, breaking the extra-long version into a miniseries with four chapters. It is an interesting new way to experience the movie but will be leaving along with the theatrical version on April 24.
Elvis (2022)
Austin Butler impressed a lot of people with his villainous turn as Feyd-Ratha in the Dune 2 cast. However, many still point to his Oscar-nominated lead role in Elvis as his best performance to date and April 30 will be the last chance to check it out on Netflix. Elvis is a flashy and wild biopic of the legendary singer Elvis Presley, crowned by some as the King of Rock. Butler plays the complex musician throughout his amazing career while Tom Hanks gives a rare villainous role as Colonel Tom Parker, the puppet master who controlled much of Elvis' career.
While the movie sticks fairly close to the typical biopic formula, Baz Luhrmann's vibrant direction gives it an interesting feel as if it is some fantasy story of a superpowered being. Butler commits to his role as Elvis with all his effort, delivering a star-making role.
Joker (2019(
With news that Joker 2 will be a full-blown jukebox musical, there may be a lot of people interested in revisiting Todd Phillips' original Joker before it leaves Netflix on April 30. Joaquin Phoenix stepped into the iconic role as Batman's most infamous and popular villain, delivering a very different and dark take on the character. Joker follows a troubled man named Arthur Fleck living in 1980s Gotham City who is overcome by the decay of the city and the lack of empathy for his mental illnesses, leading him down a violent path as he becomes a symbol to the city.
Phillips is obviously heavily influenced by the movies of Martin Scorsese, constructing a Joker origin tale that borrows from Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy.
Phoenix won an Oscar for his mesmerizing role while Phillips is obviously heavily influenced by the movies of Martin Scorsese, constructing a Joker origin tale that borrows from Taxi Driver and The King of Comedy. While not for everyone, it is a fascinating new approach to the comic book movie genre.
Jurassic Park (1993)
One of Steven Spielberg's greatest blockbuster movies is leaving Netflix along with a couple of its sequels. Based on the novel by Michael Crichton, Jurassic Park is a masterpiece of blockbuster filmmaking examining a modern-day theme park that has managed to bring dinosaurs back to life. As a team of scientists is selected to be the first people to experience the new park, disaster inevitably strikes as they must escape these prehistoric monsters running free.
Along with being a hugely entertaining adventure, the first Jurassic Park is seen as one of the greatest movies of all time by many fans with the thrills and special effects still impressing audiences more than three decades later. The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III are also leaving Netflix on April 30, and while the Jurassic Park movies never topped the first one, some fans may be interested in checking out the original trilogy while they can.
