The Movies That Made Us season 3 trailer teases a behind-the-scenes look at horror icons Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and Michael Myers. The Netflix documentary series that explores the making of popular movies began in 2019, with season 2 releasing in July of this year. Season 3, which doubles in length to eight episodes, drops on October 12.

A spin-off of The Toys That Made Us, each episode of The Movies That Made Us focuses on a particular film and, through interviews with cast and crew, explores the process of its making. Typically, the show selects movies that found tremendous, lasting success after their release, but had so fraught a production that they very nearly didn't exist at all. Season 1 offered looks at such classics as Dirty Dancing and Home Alone, while season 2 included Back to the Future and Jurassic Park.

Additionally, The Movies That Made Us will explore two horror-adjacent action films in James Cameron's Aliens and Paul Verhoeven's RoboCop, with interview clips indicating the episodes show how the two directors pushed their teams to think big. The two films that previously received attention in The Holiday Movies That Made Us, Jon Favreau's Elf and Henry Selick's The Nightmare Before Christmas, also feature in this season, though it's unclear if those episodes feature new material. And finally, season 3 also includes an episode on the Eddie Murphy-starring comedy Coming to America, with the footage promising to detail how the film's team had to push back against the studio's expectations for a romance between Black leads.
