The period drama, Mad Men, premiered on the AMC network in 2007 and was the first basic cable show to ever win an Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series. The show lasted for seven seasons and tells the story of our country from 1960 to 1970 through the eyes of Don Draper, a womanizing and scandalous ad executive living and working in New York City.
The show was praised not only for the performances, the costumes, and the writing, but also for how true it stand to our country's history and the events that took place over the course of the tumultuous, yet very progressive decade in which the series is set.

Upon its release, the film was incurably well-received by both critics and fans alike, earning a number of award nominations including two Academy Awards and winning the Grand Prix at Cannes.
North By Northwest
This thriller was released in 1959. It stars Carey Grant and Eva Marie Saint and was directed by the great Alfred Hitchcock. The story is one of mistaken identity. Grant plays Roger Thornhill, an innocent man being followed by a group of unmarked agents from a mysterious intelligence task force.
These mystery men think that Roger is trying to smuggle microfilm containing government secrets and will stop at nothing to stop him, even though he's actually doing nothing that they suspect.
Friends With Kids
Jon Hamm became a household name sooner after the premiere of Mad Men in 2007. Hamm's struggles in the industry have been widely told and he serves as an inspiration for a lot of young actors and actresses trying to "make it" in the industry.

This film pokes fun at the no-sex, romantic comedies of the era, like Pillow Talk and Lover Come Back. In the film, Barbara Novack is an independent woman up against the male ego and fighting back in the name of feminism and equality, and she definitely succeeds.
Life As We Know It
