Sony's latest Spider-Man Universe installment, Morbius, is now in theaters, and the cast can be recognized from various shows and movies. The film is based on the Marvel comics and follows Dr. Michael Morbius, a scientist who has a rare blood disease seeking to find a cure. However, his experiment ends in extreme side effects that transform him into a living vampire.
Morbius, played by Jared Leto, will be joined by numerous other well-known cast members like Matt Smith and Michael Keaton. Fans are eager to know where else they've seen the familiar faces from the film.
Charlie Shotwell - Eli (2019)
Young Michael Morbius, played by Charlie Shotwell, is key to exploring his childhood and the experiences he had growing up with a rare blood disease. Young Michael shows the audience how he was isolated because of the disease and the way it made him look physically. While he dealt with the effects, he was an intellectually gifted young man who spent most of his time reading. He later became the winner of a Nobel prize for achievement in biochemistry.
Much like Morbius's journey, Shotwell began working early, starting his acting career at age 6, and with his first notable role of Nai Cash in the comedy-drama film Captain Fantastic in 2016, he was nominated for SAG Awards and Young Artist Awards. Shotwell's most known role was the lead of Netflix's horror film, Eli, in 2019.
Corey Johnson - Captain Phillips (2013)
Corey Johnson, portraying the mysterious Mr. Fox, can be seen in many films and TV shows. What's so exciting about this character is the suspense surrounding him. While fans who haven't seen the film yet don't know what to expect from Mr. Fox, he is a highly anticipated character.
Johnson is known for his role as Ken Quinn in the film Captain Phillips. He was also seen more recently in The Mauritanian. With his role as Mr. Fox and his upcoming role in Batgirl, Johnson is sure to be a more prominent actor in the future.
Al Madrigal - Night School (2018)
Agent Alberto Rodriguez, played by actor and producer Al Madrigal, is an FBI agent tasked with hunting Michael Morbius. He will work alongside his partner, Simon Stroud, to find Morbius.
Madrigal grew to fame on The Daily Show With Trevor Noah, where he was a regular correspondent for five years. He's more recently seen as Luis in the film Night School. However, Madrigal is best known as a comedian who is the co-founder of the All Things Comedy Network.
Jared Harris - Mad Men (2009-2015)
Emil Nikos, played by Jared Harris, is Morbius's best friend, who grew up and went to university with him and also majored in biochemistry. Nikols dedicated his life to finding a cure for Michael's rare blood disease, but when the experiment failed, turning Michael into "The Living Vampire," Emil was Morbius' first victim in the comics. However, in the film, he is more of a mentor and father figure to Morbius.
Much like his character in Morbius, who wins the Nobel prize, Harris is regarded as one of the greatest stage and screen actors in both his native Great Britain and internationally, according to IMDb. Harris is known for his role in Mad Men as Lane Pryce, where he was nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actor. Fans may also know him from his role as King George VI in The Crown.
Tyrese Gibson - Fast and Furious Franchise (2003-Present)
Tyrese Gibson plays Simon Stroud, an FBI agent who goes rogue hunting down Morbius. In the comics, he is a supernatural detective who hunts down many of Spider-Man's enemies. He is known to be great with weapons and using his surroundings to fight vampires.
Gibson is a well-known singer, TV producer, and actor. He is best known on the screen for his role as Roman Pearce in the Fast and Furious movie franchise. He also can be seen in Death Race and Transformers.
Adria Arjona - Emerald City (2017)
Adria Arjona plays Martine Bancroft, assistant and fiancée to Morbius. She is intelligent and utterly dedicated to him, which helps to make her arguably the most likable character in Morbius. The character likely has much more waiting on the horizon, as she becomes a vampire near the end of the film.
Arjona is an actor known for her role of Jules Reyes in Pacific Rim: Uprising and Amanda in the TV show Life of the Party. She also played Dorothy Gale in Emerald City, where she was nominated for an Imagen Foundation Award for Best Actress in television.
Matt Smith - The Crown (2016-2017)
Milo, played by Matt Smith, is a complicated character who, in the film, doesn't quite follow the comic character he's based on. Who's known as the villainous character Lucien, is now seen as Morbius's best friend who shares the same blood disease. He also is known to be one of the most intelligent main characters in Morbius. The movie shows Morbius struggling to control his bloodthirst and overcome his disease, but Milo embraces being a blood-drinking vampire.
Smith is a well-known actor for his role as the Eleventh Doctor in Doctor Who. He was younger than any other actor who had taken the role and ended up winning the National Television Award for Oustanding Drama Performance for it. Smith is more recently known for his role as Prince Philip in the Netflix show The Crown.
Michael Keaton - Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017)
Michael Keaton returns to his role as Adrian Toomes, also known as Vulture, which he first appeared as in Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man: Homecoming. Toomes is an acquaintance of Michael Morbius who recruits him to fight Spider-Man. With Keaton being considered one of the best cinematic versions of Batman to this day fans were eager to see his return as Vulture from the incredible appearance in Homecoming.
Keaton is known as Batman in the 1989 Batman and 1992 Batman Returns. He has won many awards, including a Golden Globe Award for Birdman, where he was also nominated for an Academy Award. He is set to reprise his role of Batman in the upcoming films Batgirl and The Flash.
Jared Leto - Suicide Squad (2016)
Jared Leto takes on the role of Morbius in the film. Based on the Marvel comics character in Morbius, the Living Vampire, Dr. Morbius began his comic life as a villain and was primarily a baddie for Spider-Man to fight. With powerful enemies like Spider-Man and villains like Venom, fans are excited to see who appears in Morbius and what theories may be made true. With the failed experiment, he gained many powers like heightened senses, quick reflexes, flight, and so much more. Of course, he also began thirsting for blood, which provides fans with his complex character.
Leto is of course known for his role as The Joker in Suicide Squad, along with Angel Face in Fight Club and Paolo Gucci in House of Gucci.
Jared Leto - Dallas Buyers Club (2013)
Morbius stands as a scientist who battles against the monster that lives within him that he mistakenly caused himself. He soon realizes that with his self-experiment, he only traded one ailment for another, perhaps worse, one.
Leto is not only an actor, however; he is also famously known as the lead singer in the popular rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars. His acting career kicked off with television when he landed the role of Jordan Catalano in My So-Called Life in 1994. Leto is more famously known for his role as Rayon in Dallas Buyers Club. This performance landed him an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor in 2014.
