Acting on the screen and acting on a stage present different challenges for actors; in TV shows and movies, actors are able to do retakes, as well as can rely on a post-production team to make necessary changes. However, on stage, actors don't have the luxury of post-op or take two's -- they've got one shot to captivate an audience each night.

Most people know that Hugh Jackman, Jonathan Groff, and Lea Michele have been on Broadway, but there are plenty of well-known and beloved actors whose Broadway experience isn't common knowledge.

Emma Stone

Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy

Stone worked on numerous well-known films, including CruellaThe Amazing Spiderman films, and Easy A. She also was the main heroine in the musical film La La Landwhich is her first movie musical role.

Considering that La La Land was her first musical role, it would make sense for Stone to have some previous work that involves her strengthening her musical chops. So fans may not be too surprised to learn that from 2014-2015, she played the character Sally Bowles in the Broadway production of Cabaret. Fans of Stone's previous work may look forward to Stone in Poor Things, an upcoming romantic sci-fi movie.

Gaten Matarazzo

Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin Henderson in Season 3 of Stranger Things

Matarazzo is most well known for his likable role of Dustin Henderson on Netflix's Stranger Things. Movie-wise, he's voiced Bubba in Angry Birds 2 and is voicing Rami in the upcoming animated film Hump.

Little known fact, Matarazzo played the role of Benji in the Broadway production of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert from 2011-2012. In addition, he was also in Les Misérables as Gavroche and Petit Gervais from 2014-2016. Considering that his rendition of "Never Ending Story" in season 2 of Stranger Things was so iconic, the fact that he's had some musical experience beforehand is understandable.

Sarah Jessica Parker

Carrie Writing in And Just Like That

Hearing Parker's name brings characters like Carrie Bradshaw from the Sex and the City franchise or Sarah Sanderson from the cult classic Hocus Pocus (which is getting a much-anticipated sequel!) to mind.

Still, there's more to Parker's name than what meets the eye. Parker has several Broadway credits to her name, including Flora in The Innocents; Annie and Flora in Annie; Rosemary Pillkington in How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying; Princess Winnifred in Once Upon a Mattress; and currently as Karen Nash, Muriel Tate, and Norma Hubley in Plaza Suite. Truly, Parker has expansive experience.

Nick Jonas

Jonas Brothers acting

Nick Jonas has surprisingly expansive music experience. The Jonas Brothers aside, he's also had much success in his solo music career. He's also landed some film roles - aside from Disney's Camp Rock series, he's notably played Seaplane and Alex in the Jumanji films.

Of course, it tracks that Palmer also has a Broadway credit to add to her impressive work resume. From 2013-2015, she played Elle in Rodgers + Hammerstein's Cinderella. As reported by Vanity Fair, she even made history with this casting, as she was the first-ever African-American woman to play Cinderella on Broadway.

Alicia Silverstone in Last Survivors

No one can forget the iconic yellow plaid outfit Cher wears in the hit feel-good "chick flick" Clueless or the charm Alicia Silverstone brings to her character. Aside from the well-known role, she was also Batgirl / Barbara Wilson in Batman & Robin and had several film and TV credits since.

It's time to get a clue about her Broadway experience, too! Silverstone has three Broadway play credits to her name. She starred as Elaine Robinson in The Graduate, Mandy Bloom in Time Stands Still, and Sara in The Performers. It would certainly be a treat to see Silverstone on Broadway again since she hasn't had any credits past 2012. Still, it's nice to see her on the screen, and there's more of her to look forward to with the films Tunnels and Reptiles in pre-production.

Paul Rudd

A still of Paul Rudd by the sea

Marvel fans know Rudd as the charming Ant-Man in the MCU films. In general, fans know Rudd for his roles as Peter Klaven in I Love You, Man and the caring English teacher Mr. Anderson in Perks of Being a Wallflower.

However, there's to Rudd than his filmed acting roles. Rudd has done several plays on Broadway, including Joe Farkas in The Last Night of Ballyhoo, Orsino in Twelfth Night, Mystery Guest Star in The Play What I Wrote, Walker and Ned in Three Days of Rain, and Steve in Grace. The plays he's been cast in are mostly comedies, which makes sense given that seems to be Rudd's main specialty. Rudd's fans can look forward to seeing him in the movies Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and the recently released The Bob's Burgers Movie as Jericho.

Molly Ringwald

Creepshow - Molly Ringwald in Sibling Rivalry

Ringwald certainly hasn't lost her touch since her iconic roles in the '80s including Sixteen Candles, The Breakfast Cluband Pretty in Pink. She's still very much active, acting as Mary Andrews in Riverdale and The Kissing Booth series as Mrs. Flynn. She also has some work in post-production, specifically a drama film titled Montauk and a short called Columbarium.

Considering how talented of an actress Ringwald is, it comes as no surprise that she brought her acting chops to Broadway - however, it's a little lesser known that she also has some singing capabilities. She starred as Sally Bowles in the musical Cabaret and Rose Arnott in the play Enchanted April. Considering how beloved Ringwald is as an actress, her work on Broadway deserves to be recognized.

Nicole Kidman

Nicole Kidman in Roar

Kidman is an extremely talented actress, with several recognizable credits to her name including Queen Gudrún in The Northman, Ms. Barbour in The Goldfinch, and Atlanna in Aquaman. She also has a good amount of notable musical roles, including Satine in Moulin Rouge!, Claudia in Nine, and Angie Dickinson in The Prom.

However, it's a surprise that she hasn't had any musical roles in Broadway considering what she's brought to the silver screen. The sole Broadway credit she has is The Blue Room, a play where she played multiple roles: The girl, The au pair, The married woman, The model, and The actress. She acted in this play for two months from 1998 to 1999, with mixed reviews. Despite this, Kidman's ability to do several roles in a single production for two months is laudable. Fans can look forward to seeing Kidman reprise her role as Atlanna in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
