15 Behind-The-Scenes Movie Photos Of 2017 That We Can’t Unsee

This past year has been a wild ride of both entertainingly excellent box-office hits, along with some not-so great, mindless movie duds. Despite the misses, there's no denying that 2017 has given us quite the number of memorable releases – ranging from '90s revivals to the latest superhero adaptations.

While we've all enjoyed the action on the big screen, one wonders what sorts of shenanigans go on behind the scenes – when the actors aren't pummeling down New York's criminals or terrorizing young children in a creepy, '50s clown get-up.

Thankfully, in this day and age of social media, even the on-screen talents themselves can frequently update fans on exclusive backstage happenings, whether it's a selfie with the film crew or a sneaky on-set photo – posted on Instagram for their devoted followers to keep tabs on.

Because who doesn't want to see the gorgeous, Vietnam sunsets of Kong: Skull Island? Or perhaps how the Power Rangers performed their stomach-dropping stunts? Thanks to these photos, we've gotten a generous sneak peek at some of the most interesting – or just simply amusing – cast and crew incidents behind the curtain.

Without further ado, here are the 15 Behind-The-Scenes Movie Photos of 2017 That We Can't Unsee.

15 Pennywise Taking A Selfie

🤡 🎈

A post shared by Bill Skarsgård (@billskarsgard_) on

Andres Muschietti's 2017 adaptation of Stephen King's It was undeniably one of the best films of the year (and one of the best horror films in recent years), wherein adult audiences were able to relive their childhood nightmares of Pennywise the Dancing Clown.

Performed spectacularly by Swedish actor, Bill Skarsgard, 2017's Pennywise continuously ignited screams of terror throughout the film's 2-hour runtime, both among viewers and the movie's protagonists, themselves.

This is probably why it's a rather goofy sight to see the ever-frightening Pennywise pose for a cheerful selfie – and being the one taking it, at that.

Despite being all smiles for the camera, we still can't help but feel those creeping chills as Skarsgard sports a complete, full-face of movie make-up and smears of “blood” all over his ruffled collar.

14 Wonder Woman Boot-Making

A post shared by Gal Gadot (@gal_gadot) on

The DC Cinematic Universe has finally blessed fans with what was probably its only critically acclaimed movie yet – Patty Jenkins' magnificent take on the Amazonian demi-goddess, Wonder Woman.

The movie was filled to the brim with non-stop battle sequences, with Diana Prince plowing through walls and completely demolishing her opponents out of existence. (Rest in peace, that tank sniper.)

Of course, her outfit wouldn't be complete without Wonder Woman's signature armoured boots. To go through the process of creating this part of her costume, Gal Gadot had her legs covered with white plaster to create an accurate mold of them, as seen in this interesting “work-in-progress” shot posted on her Instagram. Cosplayers, take notes.

13 The Disaster Artist Cast With Puppies

#thedisasterartist premiere at @tiff_net #theroom #hidoggy #tiff2017

A post shared by Greg Sestero (@gregsestero) on

The Disaster Artist centers on the infamous actor and director, Tommy Wiseau – mastermind of the now cult-hit film, The Room. As a treat for fans, director James Franco made sure to completely replicate some of the original movie's best scenes.

One of these was the memorable and iconic moment in which Wiseau's character, Johnny, pops into the florist to purchase a bouquet of flowers. Breezing through wooden, cringe-worthy dialogue, he pats a stone-faced pug on the store counter, stiffly delivers the line, “Hi Doggy,” and goes about his way.

Which is why this photo, courtesy of original Room actor Greg Sestero, is undeniably precious. Seeing the two stars of Franco's film and the leads of the original standing side-by-side, each cuddling a pug puppy, would bring a smile to any Wiseau fan's face.

12 Thor And Loki Working A News Stand

God of Thunder and God of Mischief, Thor and Loki (respectively), are probably the most entertaining pair in Marvel's Cinematic Universe, right next to Rocket Raccoon and Groot. From the relatable sibling rivalries to Thor shutting down most of Loki's chaotic antics – these two are never a dull moment with their scenes on-screen.

That said, it's no surprise that the actors themselves tend to share a few goofy moments behind the scenes, and this particular one during the Thor: Ragnarok shooting is just one of them.

Kicking back on a couple of folding chairs, Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleston pose for an Instagram photo in front of a news stand, with Hemsworth adding the priceless caption: “Just sellin papers with my mate”, complete with the hashtag, “#parttimejob.”

Seems like a hilarious idea for a short comedy skit – two of Asgard's legendary figures, going through the daily grind of selling papers and magazines as a casual side gig on Planet Earth.

11 The Cast Of Beauty And The Beast With James Corden

There's no doubt that the fabulous cast of 2017's Beauty and the Beast were nothing short of fantastic in their live-action roles – namely the duo of LeFou and Gaston, right next to Belle and the Beast, of course.

So it's definitely a treat for all us Disney fans to see these same power couples taking a glorious selfie together, dressed in the original animated movie's costumes.

There's something wildly amusing (and loveable) about seeing Dan Stevens – who plays the titular Beast in the film – adorned with a fluffy hoodie that's meant to emulate his character's frightening horns.

But of course, what makes this photo is Belle the Beauty herself – portrayed by the one and only James Corden. He sure knows how to sport that yellow ball gown; we're surprised he didn't audition for the role himself.

10 Nick Jonas And Jack Black On Snapchat

Oh hey there... @jackblack #jumanji

A post shared by Nick Jonas (@nickjonas) on

Fans of the 1995 Jumanji film were either thrilled or apathetic at the announcement of a stand-alone sequel – after all, nothing beats the original, especially when you've got Robin Williams as the main star.

It may have been seen as an unecessary cash-grab to some – but many critics actually praised it as a “pleasant surprise”, upon its release.

What was also surprising to many was the rather prominent role Nick Jonas played in the film – who knew the reboot to this classic would feature a Jonas Brother? Nevertheless, he plays a major role as Alex Vreeke, and was often active on Instagram during filming.

One of his best posts was a priceless selfie of himself and co-star Jack Black, in which the two are seen playing around with a Snapchat filter. If more celebrities took these kinds of selfies, the world would undoubtedly be a happier place.

9 Pedro Pascal Doing The Orange Jacket Challenge

In support of the Help For Heroes' fundraising campaign – a charity that donates to affected servicemen and women in the British Armed Forces community – the stars of 2017's Kingsman: The Golden Circle decided to take on the “#OrangeJacketChallenge,” in which they post a photo of themselves donning Eggsy's orange tuxedo from the movie.

The social media posts were meant to raise awareness for the organization, and among those who participated were Claudia Schiffer, Poppy Delevingne, Channing Tatum, and even Eggsy's dog – JB the Pug, himself.

However, one of the more memorable photos of this challenge was Pedro Pascal's Instagram contribution – in which he is shown standing naked in the shower, his body covered by the iconic orange tuxedo.

Why he chose to take this particular photo, we'll never know, but hey – it's both hilarious and attention-grabbing, that's for sure.

8 Zac Efron Shows Off His Moves On Baywatch Set

A post shared by Baywatch Movie (@baywatchmovie) on

We all know Zac Efron's no one-trick pony; the guy can sing, act, and well – his modelling's easy on the eyes, that's for sure.

In the recent cinematic adaptation of the classic series, Baywatch, we also learned that the guy's gotten pretty ripped at the gym, taking on a competition of pull-ups and physical stunts during the movie.

Of course, he's still no match for The Rock – but we gotta admit this particular Instagram photo is quite the impressive shot.

Posing alongside the one and only Dwayne Johnson, Efron shows off his Spiderman-like moves by doing an awesome flying kick for the camera. Could it be that this High School Musical star's also got some secret martial arts tricks up his sleeve? In any case, that's some pretty epic form.

7 Transformers Cast With Transformers Toys

Michael Bay, once again, returns to the big screen with yet another certified “Rotten” installment in his ongoing trainwreck of a Transformers film franchise – reprising the roles of “Marky Mark” Mark Wahlberg, Josh Duhamel, John Turturro, and Glenn Morshower from previous films.

While most of us can agree that the Transformers movies are nothing more than a mindless hodge-podge of signature Bay explosions, babes, and non-stop CGI destruction – at least we can give him the credit of creating the very definition of popcorn entertainment.

But what's even more entertaining is this Instagram photoset, where we see an amusing picture of Josh Duhamel as he plays with a tiny action-figure of Optimus Prime.

We can only assume he's making accompanying sound effects, judging from that precious look on his face. It's a photo that's hard not to love.

6 Hugh Jackman And Dafne Keen Bonding On Set

These two couldn't have won our hearts any more in 2017's Logan – the relationship between Dafne Keen's Laura and the aged and weary Wolverine made for a film with as much heart as there were some epic R-rated action scenes.

It's awesome to see these two bonding behind the scenes, as a bloodied-and-battered Jackman takes a selfie with Keen and a classic X-Men comic, expressing his admiration for the young star's talent.

With Hugh Jackman doing his final reprise as Logan, the film focuses on his attempts to lead a young girl, Laura, to safety at a refuge in North Dakota. He soon realizes that the child bears powers very similarly to his titanium claws, and is hunted down by the Alkali-Transigen.

As the movie progresses, the two form a father-daughter bond that makes for the movie's best moments – even if Laura isn't one of many words.

5 Tom Holland Takes An Epic Hanging Selfie

The second reboot of Marvel's Spiderman, featuring the more appropriately-aged British actor Tom Holland as a teenage Peter Parker, was one of the studio's best releases this year – jam-packed with superhero action and the additional talents of Michael Keaton as Vulture and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.

The film not only showcased Holland's skillful acting as the bright and humourous Peter Parker – but his years of training as a gymnast and dancer. Because of this, Holland was allowed by director Kevin Feige to perform many of his own stunts – well, as many as he could do legally, that is.

His penchant for daredevil antics has thus resulted in one of Holland's most epic selfies – one of him dressed head-to-toe in his suit, hanging from a high ledge (in true Spidey fashion) as the film crew watch in awe from below.

4 Cast Of Guardians Of The Galaxy Chilling Out

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was definitely another hilarious action adventure for Marvel fans, all while zeroing in on the touching issues of family and relationships.

In the movie, we see Peter Quill as he struggles with finally meeting his biological father, realizing that perhaps his adoptive dad, Yondu, was more of a parent to him that his real father ever could be.

Gamora, on the other hand, tackles some deep-seated resentment from her adoptive sister, Nebula, who attacks the Guardians member in anger of their dysfunctional past.

It's thus a pretty unexpected sight to see both the formidable Yondu and Nebula chilling out on a couple of folding chairs, taking a break from character.

It's especially amusing to see Yondu and Mantis just casually browsing their smartphones while Nebula lays back with a can of soda, both mechanical arm and pitch black irises nowhere to be seen.

3 Justice League Stuntmen Pose For A Photo

It's a controversial and well-known fact that Zack Snyder's much-awaited Justice League had quite a number of scenes left on the cutting room floor, following Joss Whedon's takeover as director. The film was meant to be a much darker story (in true Snyder fashion), steering clear of Whedon's contrasting, signature snark and humourous quips.

Among a wide number of seemingly interesting scenes involving the League's characters (along with one of Green Lantern, Zeus, and Ares) – there was one in particular involving the Atlanteans and Steppenwolf's Parademons.

In an Instagram photo by stuntman Thomas Billings, we see a group of Atlantean warriors with a handful of Parademon stuntmen, all with their helmets off and non-computerized appearances exposed.

It's funny how Steppenwolf's army look like the literal demons of hell in the film, whereas they look like a bunch of guys you'd grab a round of drinks with in this unexpected photo.

2 RJ Cyler Doing Stunts On Power Rangers Set

The Power Rangers movie wasn't too well-received by the critics – despite being an adaptation most 90's kids were rooting to succeed. Still, it was interesting enough seeing what these relatively new actors could bring to the characters on-screen, and if anything, still made for some campy enjoyment.

One of the films' most engaging scenes involved each of the cast leaping over a large crevice, attempting to land on a cliff at the other side.

RJ Cyler, who plays Billy Cranston (A.K.A. The Blue Ranger) in the film, posted a rather spectacular photo of himself doing his own stunts during the scene as he hovers, on his back, above a large body of water at tremendous height.

Gotta give it to this kid – perhaps his screams in the movie weren't acting, after all?

1 Jorgan Vogt-Roberts In Vietnam

Literally my ride to work.

A post shared by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (@voteroberts) on

Jordan Vogt-Roberts' take on the monster classic, King Kong made for some action-packed entertainment – albeit lukewarm critic reviews – in his 2017 remake, Kong: Skull Island.

Of course, the film required a quality selection of locations for shooting – and these included northern Vietnam, the island of Oahu in Hawaii (also known as “Hollywood's Hawaii backlot” -- being the same place movies like Jurassic Park, Godzilla, and the T.V. series, Lost were also filmed at), and Gold Coast in Australia.

Throughout the course of filming, Roberts frequently updated his Instagram with spectacular photos of each area – one of his best ones being in Vietnam as he poses with a large red helicopter in front of a grand, orange sunset.

It really is quite the stunning shot, and sure makes those travel junkies add this spot to their list.
