A good movie cameo can enhance a scene by adding recognizable figures like actors, musicians, professional athletes, models, and politicians. Films often include cameos from these celebrities to capitalize on the state of pop culture at the time of the film's release. Whether it's a nostalgic throwback during a rebooted movie by a character from the original version, or someone at the top of the charts today, cameos are fun additions to film that fans enjoy and eat up.

Many movies have included guest appearances by popular bands, either in small roles or concerts. These bands often contribute to the film's soundtrack and look to get record sales bumps by their appearances. The cameos on this list can serve as major plot points or as background filler depending on the context in which they appear. Let's take a look at 16 Craziest Band Cameos In Movies.

Craziness ensues as the spectre of Death gets involved with Bill and Ted's souls, as they were killed by their evil doppelgangers. The help of an alien named Station sees the construction of good versions of Bill and Ted robots, who are able to defeat the evil ones.

During the 1980's, actor Paul Reubens brought the character of Pee-wee Herman into the homes of children everywhere with his Emmy Award-winning children's series Pee-wee's Playhouse that ran from 1986-1991. Pee-wee would also make the jump to the big screen with films like Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Big Top Pee-wee, and 2016's Pee-wee's Big Holiday, though Reubens' infamous scandal would put an end to the character for the better part of 2 decades.

Frontman Dee Snider and the boys are shooting a video for Burn In Hell as Pee-wee nearly avoids crashing into the car the band is playing on, as the parade of movie props attached to Pee-wee's bike, including Godzilla, crash into it. During their conversation with Alice and the band, they give a detailed history lesson on the origins of the name Milwaukee, stating that it's an Algonquin name that means "the good land" and citing more informative, fun facts. Alice invites Wayne and Garth to stick around and hang out, prompting them to drop to their knees and proclaim their unworthiness.

7. Aerosmith – Wayne’s World 2

Aerosmith performing live in Wayne's World 2

The popularity of Wayne's World naturally spawned a sequel, as Wayne's World 2 hit theatres in 1993, a year after the first film. 6. Cannibal Corpse – Ace Ventura: Pet Detective

Jim Carrey's style of comedy will surely cement him as one of the all-time greats, but his performance as the animal-loving sleuth in 1994's Ace Ventura: Pet Detective helped to bring him to the forefront. With the film premise set on finding the kidnapped Miami Dolphins mascot, Snowflake, before the Super Bowl, the film showcases his witty humor and outrageousness.

As Ace is attempting to locate Snowflake during the beginning of the film, he visits a hacker named Woodstock that has a secret office inside of a music club. While making his way to the office, Ace ventures through a rowdy crowd attending a concert. Later on in the film as Ace is being chased by thugs, he runs through a Cannibal Corpse concert, getting on-stage and performing with the band as they break into Hammer Smashed Face. Ace lends his "vocals" by nearly swallowing the microphone and gyrating all over the stage. Ace is able to crowd-surf away from the thugs as they are pummeled by the concert-goers.

The 1999 teen sex comedy American Pie features a group of friends, played by Jason Biggs, Chris Klein, Thomas Ian Nichols and Eddie Kaye Thomas, on their quest to lose their virginity before graduating from high school. The film helped to create to popular "milf" acronym and is known for its raunchy comedic moments such as Jason Biggs' character making love to a pie and was parodied heavily in Not Another Teen Movie.

During the scene where Jim (Biggs) has Slovokian exchange student Nadia (Shannon Elizabeth) being secretly filmed via webcam, punk band Blink 182 is shown watching the footage as Jim has accidentally put the live stream all over the internet. The band watches on in a garage where they were rehearsing along with a pet monkey, as their song Mutt is played while Jim runs back and forth between his house and his friend Kevin's. The film incorrectly credits former Blink 182 Scott Raynor instead of current drummer Travis Barker, who actually appeared in the film.

4. The Dan Band – Old School

The comedy stylings of The Dan Band are well-known thanks to their appearances in films like Starsky & Hutch and The Hangover, but their first appearance in 2003's Old School helped them to gain popularity. Their first appearance in Old School during the beginning of the film shows the band performing covers of Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse of the Heart and Lady by Styx.

During Total Eclipse of the Heart, Dan adds f-bombs into the lyrics that grab the attention of the wedding guests. It's tough to hear the song today without adding in these lyrics and singing them as loud as possible. The band would also perform Roberta Flack's Feel Like Makin' Love during a Bar Mitzvah in Starsky & Hutch as well as 50 Cent's Candy Shop in The Hangover.

3. Reel Big Fish – BASEketball

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone would look to capitalize from their animated show's popularity by starring in the 1998 sports comedy BASEketball. BASEketball features cameos by athletes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dale Earnhardt and Reggie Jackson along with sports commentators Kenny Mayne, Bob Costas, Al Michaels and Dan Patrick. 2. Mudhoney – Black Sheep

Following the success of  1995's Tommy Boy, Chris Farley and David Spade teamed up again a year later in 1996's Black Sheep. In an effort to keep Mike (Farley) away from the press to stop further embarrassment, Al (Tim Matheson) enlists the help of one of his employees (Spade) for the task. During an MTV Rock The Vote rally, Mike inadvertantly stumbles upon the dressing room of a rastafarian band, where he gets high with them.

Mike would be pushed on-stage by Seattle grunge band Mudhoney after he is mistaken for his brother, where he gives a beligerant speech about the power of voting, supporting Al as governor, and tells everyone to "Kill Whitey!", which kills the mood of the crowd. Mudhoney had just finished their set, playing Poisoned Water Poisons The Mind.

1. Backstreet Boys – This Is The End

Chock-full of cameos from celebrities like Emma Watson, Channing Tatum, Michael Cera, Rihanna and Aziz Ansari, to name a few, 2013's apocalyptic comedy This Is The End follows an end of days scenario with main characters Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Seth Rogen, James Franco and Jonah Hill. The beauty of this film, aside from the comedy, is that all the characters portray themselves instead of different characters. The apocalypse erupts during a party at James Franco's house, where the main characters take refuge.

Following the destruction of the world, most of the cast members are killed and a few are raptured to Heaven, as they have performed selfless acts (and are saved from the gigantic satanic beast roaming Earth). In Heaven, Seth and Jay reunite with Craig, who tells them that all of their desires will come true, which prompts boy band the Backstreet Boys to perform their hit Everybody (Backstreet's Back) as the cast members dance along with the band.

Now that we've listed our favorite band appearances, let us know which other ones you would have on your list. Keep in mind that this list is not ranked by the best cameos and that it only features full bands rather than individual musicians and artists.
