Motorola is throwing its hat in the smartphone ring again with the all-new Motorola Edge 20 Pro, a phone with a massive battery and hardware capable of taking truly impressive photos. This new addition to the Edge series is meant to keep up with modern, faster times. With 5G and WiFi 6 speeds more demanding, a phone with a hefty battery can make all the difference in daily life.

Last year, Motorola re-entered the flagship phone race. The original Motorola Edge and Edge+ were the company's attempts at competing with the top dogs. These phones featured wireless charging, up to 5,000 mAh batteries, and had solid camera specs, at least on paper. Unfortunately, due to the lack of updates to Motorola's top device, the Edge didn't seem to grab that much traction with customers.

The new addition to the Edge series was announced today, and at the top of the class is the Edge 20 Pro. The Edge 20 Pro packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 processor, one step down from the top of the line. The device also houses a whopping 4,500 mAh battery, which should be able to endure a full day or more of use. On the rear, the Edge 20 Pro really shows its true colors. The camera array features a 108 MP camera, an 8 MP hi-res camera with 5x optical zoom for far away shooting, and a 16 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. The zoom lens can digitally magnify up to 50x for even more distant photos. Once a user takes their shots, they'll be able to gaze at them in wonder using the 6.7" OLED display with a 144Hz refresh rate and HDR10+. Overall, the visuals for this device should pack a punch.

Affordable For 'Pro'

With a Snapdragon 870 instead of an 888 - the newest processor available - Motorola still chose to title this Edge model "Pro." Obviously, the cameras are the probably highest end that Motorola can offer, and the device does come with 12 GBs of RAM and 256 GB of storage, but what makes the device tick isn't technically flagship material anymore. Maybe Motorola will be able to pull off fast speeds and performance without equipping the Edge 20 Pro with an 888. Only time will tell. To accompany the Edge 20 Pro, Motorola is also offering the Edge 20 and Edge 20 Lite models, all of which feature a 108 MP camera. The Motorola Edge 20 Pro will come in at around €699.99 for European markets, with US pricing still up in the air.

The entire Edge 20 line will come with 5G and WiFi 6 capabilities, a must in 2021. The phones are also water repellent with a rating of IP52. Many current high-end smartphones are rated at IP68, which offers much more robust protection. Just keep that in mind. The Edge 20 Pro is absolutely meant to be a photography beast, and it looks like it will live up to that billing. Not only that, but the huge battery alone is a fantastic reason to consider the Edge 20 Pro. It looks like the Motorola Edge 20 will be available in the US a little while after the device becomes available in other parts of the world next month.
