After abruptly canceling the Moto Razr 2022 launch last week, Motorola has officially announced when it will host the event. Motorola was expected to launch the Moto Razr 2022 and the Moto X30 Pro smartphones on Aug. 2, but the company canceled the event at the last moment without offering any explanation or reason for the cancellation. However, speculations in the media suggest that tensions between China and Taiwan over U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's recent visit to the island could have been the reason behind the cancellation.

As for the two devices that were expected to be announced last week, the Moto Razr 2022 will be an upgrade over the Razr 5G launched in 2020. It will also be the third Moto Razr device to be released after the Razr name made a comeback in 2019. As for the Moto X30 Pro, it is expected to be launched globally as the Edge 30 Pro and has been confirmed to ship with a 200MP camera. The third device expected to be released is the Moto S30 Pro, which will likely be more affordable than the two other devices.

In terms of what's already known about the Moto Razr 2022, the device will ship with a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED screen and a 2.65-inch external OLED display with an 800 x 573-pixel resolution. In addition, it will offer up to 18GB of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The device is also expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC and sport a 3,500mAh battery.

As for the Moto X30 Pro, it is expected to be Motorola's mainstream flagship smartphone for 2022 and ship with a 200MP primary image sensor as part of a triple camera setup at the back. It is expected to be powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor. Finally, the S30 Pro will also ship with a triple rear-camera setup but led by a 50MP sensor with OIS support. Leaks, however, suggest that this Motorola phone might be powered by the last-gen Snapdragon 888 SoC instead of the Snapdragon 8 or 8+ Gen 1 processors.
