Hulu's Mother/Android offers a slim but memorable cast of characters that bring the perils of modern technology into stark view. Written and directed by Mattson Tomlin for his feature directorial debut, Mother/Android is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi thriller that offers a haunting look at his vision of a dystopian, android-controlled future. While Mother/Android has drawn mixed reviews regarding its narrative, Tomlin's film has seen widespread critical praise for its dazzling visuals and strong lead cast performances.

The story of Tomlin's Mother/Android centers on Georgia Olsen, a conflicted mother-to-be attempting to navigate her failing relationship with her significant other, Sam Hoth, in the near future. Sam's desire for marriage proves offputting to Georgia, who becomes more unsure of her feelings about her pregnancy. As the pair navigate their decidedly human issues, however, a far more severe threat begins to sweep the world as previously subservient androids rise up and attempt to kill humankind, forcing Georgia and Sam to push out into a terrifying new world in search of safety.

Mother/Android's small-but-mighty cast is undoubtedly one of the most compelling aspects of Tomlin's low-budget dystopian thriller. Chloë Grace Moretz, in particular, shines in her role as Georgia goes from an apprehensive, worry-fraught persona into a strong mother ferociously defending her new child. Here's a guide to Mother/Android's key characters, as well as where you know each cast member from.

Chloë Grace Moretz as Georgia Olsen

The primary protagonist of Mother/Android, Georgia carries the film's winding narrative with heart and gusto as she battles for a better future for her family. Georgia's journey transcends the sci-fi genre within which it is housed, with her character's growth the key component in making Mother/Android a gripping piece of cinema. Georgia is played by Chloë Grace Moretz, who first rose to national fame as Hit-Girl in Matthew Vaughn's Kick-Ass movies. Moretz's film roll call has since matured alongside the American-born actress with stand-out performances in both Suspiria and Greta, respectively.

Algee Smith as Sam Hoth

Mother/Android's other equally troubled-yet-determined protagonist is Sam, who turns from resolving to keep his long-term girlfriend's affections to protecting his lover and child from the vicious robot assault. Sam is played by American actor and singer Algee Smith, who first rose to fame portraying Ralph Tresvant The New Edition Story miniseries. That same year, he garnered critical acclaim as Larry Reed in Kathryn Bigelow's film Detroit before going on to hold his current role in HBO's award-winning drama series Euphoria.

Raúl Castillo as Arthur

While scrapping for survival in a dystopian no man's land, Georgia happens upon the mysterious Arthur. Arthur holds a well-stocked survival bunker and is intent on helping Georgia and her baby, although he is far less keen on her boyfriend Sam. Arthur is played by the prolific actor and playwright Raúl Castillo, who is fresh off the back of prominent turns in Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead and Chad Hartigan's Little Fish.
