7 Welcome To Derry

IT Chapter Two Pennywise's Spider Form

After the wild success of the It franchise, it wouldn't be a surprise if Welcome to Derry does just as well as its predecessor. Welcome to Derry is a television series based on Stephen King's fictional town in Maine, Derry. Like Crystal Lake, the series will be a prequel to the first It movie, following the evil clown Pennywise's antics during the 1960s. In a sense, it will be something of a Pennywise origin story. Although Bill Skarsgård will not be reprising his role as the clown, fans will have plenty of time to welcome the new Pennywise. Welcome to Derry will premiere on HBO Max in 2024.

6 Chucky Season 3

5 The Wicker Man Series

The Cultists from The Wicker Man

Although still deep in development, the horror classic The Wicker Man is receiving a television adaptation in the future created by Andy Serkis and Jonathan Cavendish's Imaginarium. The 1973 film The Wicker Man followed a man investigating the disappearance of a child on an island filled with strange, ritualistic people. In 2006 the film was remade but did not succeed nearly as much as the original. Now, the creepy story will return on the small screen with the chance to be much better. According to Serkis, the adaptation will differ from the film, but will include similar themes such as sacrifice, ritual, and superstition.

Alien followed the crew of the Nostromo as they discover an extraterrestrial life form that wreaks havoc on them. The original film was released in 1987 and explores a puzzle box, a group of Cenobites, or extradimensional beings who can't tell pain from pleasure, and their leader Pinhead. Although the Hellraiser series was announced quite a while ago, the show seems to have taken a pause. At this point, what is known is that the series will premiere on HBO, will tell an original story based on the many Hellraiser movies, and is being directed by David Gordon Green, who is currently attached to the Halloween franchise which may be the reason for this series' delay.

Despite varying release dates and states of development, the current horror shows coming in 2023 and beyond are exciting and horrifying.
