In 2022, The Masked Singer seasons 7 and 8 had some of the biggest celebrities in the history of the show, and a few of them were especially shocking. Although both seasons had some extraordinarily talented singers, there were a few that the panelists (Robin Thicke, Jenny McCarthy, Ken Jeong, and Nicole Scherzinger) were unable to guess. Due to a different format, the season 7 contestants had a better chance of staying on the show longer than in season 8, but, even with the extra performances and clues, there were a few contestants who truly shocked the panel and viewers.

The Masked Singer season 7 featured some very big stars, including Penn & Teller (Hydra), Jennifer Holliday (Teddy Bear), Kirstie Alley (Baby Mammoth), Shaggy (Space Bunny), En Vogue (Queen Cobras), Cheyenne Jackson (Prince), and winner Teyana Taylor (Firefly). However, every one of those contestants was guessed by at least one member of the panel. The same is true of The Masked Singer season 8 contestants William Shatner (Knight), Eric Idle (Hedgehog), Mario Cantone (Maize), Joey Lawrence (Walrus), and The Brady Bunch brothers (Mummies). The show's panel also guessed Gloria Gaynor (Mermaid), Jerry Springer (Beetle), George Foreman (Venus Fly Trap), George Clinton (Gopher), Nikki Glaser (Snowstorm), runner-up Wilson Phillips (Lambs), and winner Amber Riley (Harp). Although all of these reveals were exciting after such stellar performances, they were not as shocking as some of the competitors, whom no one could guess.

Jorge Garcia As Cyclops

The panelists were shocked when The Masked Singer season 7 Cyclops was revealed to be Lost star Jorge Garcia, following three weeks of competition. During his time on the popular series, he sang "My Sacrifice" by Creed, "Suspicious Minds" by Elvis Presley, and "Flashdance (What a Feeling)" by Irene Cara. The panelists did not even come close to guessing Jorge, instead wondering if he was Kevin Smith (Robin), Zac Brown (Jenny), Dave Bautista (Ken), or Michael Keaton (Nicole) in their final guesses.

Rudy Giuliani As Jack in the Box

When Rudy popped out of Jack in the Box in The Masked Singer season 7, after his performance of "Bad to the Bone" by George Thorogood and the Destroyers, jaws dropped to the floor for many reasons. He stumped the panelists, who believed he might be Robert Duvall (Robin), Joe Pesci (Jenny), Elon Musk (Ken), or Al Roker (Nicole). Although some people cheered for the former New York City mayor, Ken was upset to see the controversial politician unmasked. Ken stayed for as long as he could, but eventually had to walk off the stage.

Hayley Orrantia As Ringmaster

As the series' season 7 runner-up, The Goldbergs actress Hayley Orrantia lasted through five performances as Ringmaster, without being guessed by The Masked Singer panelists. Hayley wowed the panel with her stunning renditions of "The Climb" by Miley Cyrus, "Super Bass" by Nicki Minaj, "I Will Always Love You" by Dolly Parton, "Gravity" by Sara Bareilles, and "Waking Up In Vegas" by Katy Perry. However, none of them were able to guess her. Instead, they thought Hayley might be Maren Morris (Robin), Hayden Panettiere (Jenny), Hailee Steinfeld (Ken), or Lucy Hale (Nicole).

Montell Jordan As Panther

Although Jenny and Nicole have guessed "This Is How We Do It" singer Montell Jordan as many other contestants in the past, they marveled that they were unable to identify him when he appeared as Panther on The Masked Singer season 8. After his powerful version of "Feeling Good" by Nina Simone, he went head-to-head with Amber Riley in the Battle Royale, singing "Born to Be Wild" by Steppenwolf. However, Amber defeated him, and he was unmasked, shocking the panelists. They thought he was Iman Shumpert (Robin), Lamar Odom (Jenny), Andre Drummond (guest panelist Donny Osmond), Sam Richardson (Ken), or Billy Porter (Nicole).

Kat Graham As Robo Girl

As The Masked Singer season 8's Robo Girl, Kat Graham impressed everyone with her magnificent performances of "Bad Cinderella" (from the musical of the same name) and "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. Although she was eventually defeated by the Lambs in the Battle Royale, when they sang "Call Me" by Blondie, Kat put up a great fight. The star of The Vampire Diaries stumped the panelists, who thought she might be Keke Palmer (Robin), Shay Mitchell (Jenny), Sydney Sweeney (Ken), or Liza Koshy (Nicole). Guest panelist Miss Piggy made the outrageous guess that she herself was Robo Girl. Kat shocked everyone when she revealed herself to be Robo Girl.

Chris Jericho As Bride

Chris Jericho shocked The Masked Singer season 8 viewers, along with the panel, when he was revealed as Bride. No one expected Bride to be a man, and he fooled everyone with his fake British accent. The professional wrestler's performances of "Shut Up and Dance" by Walk the Moon and "White Wedding" by Billy Idol electrified the audience. The panelists were not even close to guessing him, as they theorized that he was Flea (Robin), Vin Diesel (Jenny), Matthew McConaughey (Ken), or Sammy Hagar (Nicole).

In 2022, The Masked Singer brought some incredible reveals with its talented season 7 and 8 casts. There is nothing more fun than when a celebrity is unmasked, whom nobody was able to guess. The shock value makes those unmaskings so much more exciting. Fans are looking forward to even more shocking reveals in future The Masked Singer seasons.
