NVIDIA dominated Google search queries for graphics cards last year, but the most searched-for GPU is a bit of a surprise. Alongside AMD and Intel, NVIDIA is one of the three discrete GPU-makers for gamers and creators running CAD, CGI, and DCC applications. While Intel only joined the fray last year with the launch of its first-generation Arc graphics cards, the other two have been in the market for decades and unveiled their latest-generation GPUs in 2022. While NVIDIA has launched only three cards in its RTX 40-series lineup until now, it is expected to expand the collection in the coming weeks and months.
Graphics cards are an integral part of a PC gamer's repertoire, and NVIDIA is a popular choice for most of them. So much so that according to new research from Razzem, nine out of the top ten GPUs searched on Google last year were for NVIDIA cards. Curiously, however, most of the top cards on the list are last-gen RTX 30-series models rather than the latest 40-series lineup. For those wondering why that's the case, it probably has something to do with the fact that the last-gen units were available for the whole year, while the new generation was only launched at the end of the year.
Most Searched Graphics Cards Of 2022
The top place on the most-searched list was taken by the RTX 3060, which had 1,467,000 searches during 2022, accounting for 8.74 percent of all GPU-related searches last year. At number 2 is the RTX 3050 with 1,161,800 searches, followed by the RTX 3080 and RTX 3070 with 1,006,500 and 973,100 searches, respectively. The first RTX 40-series card on the list is the venerable RTX 4090, which racked up a total of 822,600 searches to slot in at number 5.
The only AMD graphics card in the top-ten list is the Radeon RX 6600, which slotted in at number 10 with 533,600 searches. The first Intel card could be found much lower on the list, at number 43. According to the report, the Arc flagship A770 claimed that position with 102,240 searches. Overall, only three Intel cards made their way to the 62-strong list, with the other two being the Arc A380 at 53 and the Arc A750 at 61.
The list offers an insight into which brands (and more precisely, which particular cards) are piquing the interest of gamers and DIY enthusiasts worldwide. However, it doesn't necessarily reveal which cards are doing well in the market. That's because while high performance always invokes excitement, it doesn't necessarily translate into sales unless backed up by decent pricing. That being the case, it will be interesting to see who will emerge victorious in the NVIDIA RTX 4000 vs AMD Radeon 7000 battle in the coming months.
