After scoring a record 160 nominations last year, the most for any network or streamer ever, Netflix is down to second place at this year's Emmy Awards, with 130 nominations. Edging the streaming giant by only one nomination is perennial Emmy favorite HBO, thanks to the might of HBO and HBO Max combined.

Two new prominent contenders come into the mix this year as well, with Disney+ and Apple TV+ also having significant showings. The former scored an impressive 71 nominations, while the latter garnered a total of 35. These networks and streamers all got to the top thanks to their roster of thrilling shows, and the Television Academy made sure to recognize a ton of them.

Hacks - 15 Nominations

Jean Smart is having the time of her life. The veteran actress scored two Emmy nominations this morning, including one for her leading role in Hacks. The show focuses on a Las Vegas comedy diva looking to appeal to a younger audience and dazzled with 15 nominations, including one for Smart's co-star Hannah Einbinder and one for Outstanding Comedy Series.

Hacks is one of two shows that welcome HBO Max to the Emmys through the front door, the other being Kaley Cuoco's The Flight Attendant. Both series will return for second seasons and will surely return at next year's ceremony.

Mare of Easttown - 16 Nominations

And speaking of Jean Smart, the actress scored her second nomination of the ceremony thanks to her supporting turn in HBO's miniseries Mare of Easttown. Kate Winslet gives a career-best performance as Mare Sheehan, a Philadelphia detective who struggles to solve two crucial cases in her small town.

The miniseries earned nominations for four of its cast members, including Smart and Winslet. Supporting players Julianne Nicholson and Evan Peters also receives richly deserved recognitions, and the show earned a nomination for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series.

Lovecraft Country - 18 Nominations

The recently canceled Lovecraft Country received 18 nominations, contributing to HBO's domination of this year's Emmys. The show, set in the 1950s, follows Atticus Freeman, a young man who goes searching for his missing father, joined by his friend Leti and uncle George.

Both Jonathan Majors and Jurnee Smollett received nominations for their lead performances, and supporting players Michael K. Williams and Aunjanue Ellis also received mentions. Courtney B. Vance earned a Guest Actor in a Drama Series nomination, and the show received a plethora of below-the-line acknowledgments.

The Queen's Gambit - 18 Nominations

The Queen's Gambit, Netflix's breakout series about a chess prodigy, received 18 Emmy nominations, the second-most for any of the streamer's shows.

Star Anya Taylor-Joy, who gave life to the complex heroine Beth Harmon, received her first Emmy nomination in the Leading Actress category. Supporting players Thomas Brodie Sangster and Moses Ingram also received recognitions from the Academy.

Ted Lasso - 20 Nominations

Apple TV+ makes a grand splash at this year's Emmys thanks to its sweet and endearing show, Ted Lasso. Jason Sudeikis stars in the title role as a college-level American football coach recruited to lead an English Premier League team, ADC Richmond.

Sudeikis is the current favorite to win the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, and the show itself has everything to win Outstanding Comedy Series. The series' supporting players also received love from the Television Academy, with a whopping four nominees in Outstanding Supporting Actor and two in Supporting Actress. Ted Lasso will return for a second season in July, and fans can't wait.

Saturday Night Live - 21 Nominations

The veteran variety show received 21 nominations at this year's Emmys, including a staggering eleven mentions for its cast of supporting and guest performers.

Cecily Strong, Aidy Bryant, and Kate McKinnon all received Supporting Actress nominations, while Kenan Thompson and breakout Bowen Yang got into Supporting Actor. Among the hosts nominated for their guest stints are Maya Rudolph, Kristen Wiig, Alec Baldwin, Daniel Kaluuya, Dave Chapelle, and Daniel Levy.

The Handmaid's Tale - 21 Nominations

The Handmaid's Tale, Hulu's primary player when it comes to award season, didn't disappoint. Now on its fourth season, the show gathered an impressive 21 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series. Elizabeth Moss will once again contend at the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama category, and the show's many supporting performers will also try their best to win.

Ann Dowd, Samira Wiley, Yvonne Strahovski, and Madeline Brewer all received Supporting Actress nominations, while O-T Fagbenle, Max Minghella, and Bradley Whitford go into Supporting Actor. Lastly, Alexis Bledel and McKenna Grace will duke it out in the Guest Actress category.

WandaVision - 23 Nominations

Disney+ broke into the Emmys thanks to WandaVision. The show, which follows Wanda and Vision living a seemingly idyllic life in Westview, New Jersey, after the events of Avengers: Endgame, earned a whopping 23 nominations.

Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany earned Lead Actor and Actress mentions for their titular roles, and scene-stealer actress Kathryn Hahn is a favorite to win Supporting Actress. The show also earned three nominations in the Writing categories, as well as a bid for Directing.

The Mandalorian - 24 Nominations

After making a name for itself last year, The Mandalorian is back with a vengeance at this year's Emmys. The show, which follows the title character as he goes on the run after being hired to retrieve a child named Grogu, scored a leading 24 nominations, tying with The Crown as the ceremony's most-nominated show.

The Mandalorian earned nominations for Outstanding Drama Series, Supporting Actor for Giancarlo Esposito's turn as the villainous Moff Gideon, and Guest Actor for Timothy Olyphant and Carl Weathers.

The Crown is in it to win it. The show's fourth season, which focused on Charles and Diana's troubled marriage and Margaret Thatcher's tenure as PM, earned a leading 24 nominations. Nine of its actors earned mentions, including a surprising Guest Actress nomination for Claire Foy. Josh O'Connor and Emma Corrin stand a great chance to prevail in Lead Actor and Actress, respectively, while Gillian Anderson already has the Emmy in the bag.

The show will return for a fifth season with an entirely different cast, making this a worthy send-off for Olivia Colman and company.
