The movie followed the Guardians on the run from various enemies while encountering a mysterious being called Ego who claims to be Peter Quill's father. With all the colorful characters returning and a few new additions introduced, the sequel kept the same irreverent humor and high energy fun of the first film. Here are the most memorable quotes from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

Anyway, Before I Was So Rudely Interrupted. At That Time, I Was A Federal Express Man...

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 kept the long tradition of a Stan Lee cameo alive. However, this was not just some throwaway cameo, but rather a significant one that seemingly ties together all of Lee's appearances in the MCU.

While Rocket and Yondu are jumping through space, they pass by a planet where a group of Watchers are listening to Lee tell a story about posing as a FedEx man, hinting at his appearance in Captain America: Civil War. This seems to confirm the fan theory that Lee has been playing a Watcher or an ally of the Watchers in every MCU movie.

I'm Sorry. I Took It Too Far. I Meant Trash Panda

Though the Guardians managed to come together as a dysfunctional team at the end of the first film, the sequel shows that they still have their differences to work out. Much of the tension in the film is between Quill and Rocket who constantly butt heads.

After getting in a fight that nearly gets the team killed, they go back to bickering. Rocket takes offense to being called a raccoon, so Quill corrects it to trash panda. Rocket asks if that's better and Quill laughs, "It's so much worse."

The Crabby Puppy Is So Cute He Makes Me Wanna Die!

Mantis and Drax talk to each other at night in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Mantis is a new character introduced in this film and one that quickly becomes a great member of the team. A lot of the charm of the character comes from Pom Klementieff's hilarious and touching performance.

Being a pet of Ego, Mantis is a bit naïve to the outside world but quickly takes a liking to Rocket whom she finds adorable. Even in his fits of rage and violence, Mantis is enamored with him and Klementieff's giddy delivery of this line is one of the biggest laughs in the film.

No, That's The Button That Will Kill Everyone!

Baby Groot and Rocket in Guardians of the Galaxy 2

Though Groot heroically sacrificed himself at the end of the first film, this movie brings in Baby Groot who is one of the most adorable characters ever seen on film. Though he is a little more violent than the other Groot, Baby Groot is one of the most memorable aspects of the film.

During the climax of the film, it is up to Baby Groot to set the bomb to save the day. Rocket takes him through the steps and warns against pressing the "death button" that will kill everyone. No matter how many times he tries, Baby Groot just wants to press that death button.

Did You Make A Penis?

The mysterious Ego arrives early in the film and explains that he is Quill's father. But when he explains his own background, things just get weirder. Ego takes the heroes to his planet and explains that he is actually the planet itself.

When he explains that the human form they see is just something he made himself, Drax asks the obvious question, "Did you make a penis?" Quill is disgusted by Drax's question to his new father, but Ego confirms he did, adding "It's not half bad."

It's An Unspoken Thing

Gamora and Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2

After some innocent flirting in the first film, the relationship between Quill and Gamora progresses a little further in the sequel. Quill continues to insist that there is some unspoken thing between them, alluding to Sam and Diane from Cheers.

But because of her cruel upbringing at the hands of Thanos, Gamora is reluctant to admit to any feelings. But at the end of the film, standing next to each other, Gamora looks and Quill. When he asks what she's thinking, she simply replies "It's an unspoken thing."

But... It Broke My Heart To Put That Tumor In Her Head

GEgo looks warmly at his son Starlord in Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

With the great Kurt Russell in the role, Ego is one of the most underrated villains in the MCU. His true intentions are hidden for most of the film, but it's clear that there is something not right about this guy.

The truth comes out in a great scene as Ego explains his plan to expand himself across the universe and conquer everything. He also explains that he truly did love Quill's mother and that love almost kept him on Earth. So in order to avoid becoming distracted from his purpose, he put a tumor in her head to kill her.

He May Have Been Your Father, Boy, But He Wasn't Your Daddy

Along with all of the cosmic action and hilarious humor, the movie packs a surprising emotional punch. A big part of the story concerns the relationship between Quill and Yondu. Though they never saw eye-to-eye, Yondu proves that he cared more than he ever let on.

After Ego turns out to be evil, Yondu rescues Quill and reassures him "He may have been your father, boy, but he wasn't your daddy." At that moment, Quill realizes that he did always have a father by his side to teach him and care for him.

He Says, "Welcome To The Frickin' Guardians Of The Galaxy." Only He Didn't Use "Frickin'"

Yondu's emotional sacrifice in the film makes for one of the most heartbreaking deaths in the MCU. Knowing that he has a lot to make up for, Yondu sees this as an opportunity for redemption.

Before he heads off to give his life, he is made an official member of the Guardians of the Galaxy by Baby Groot who apparently uses some vulgar language in the process. As they fly off, Rocket tells Groot they'll need to do something about his profanity.

I'm Mary Poppins, Y'all!

After being a memorable supporting character in the first film, Yondu is given a much bigger role this time around and Michael Rooker is wonderful in the role. Along with nailing the big emotional moments of the film, he is also hilarious as the tough-talking alien.

One of the most unexpected and hilarious moments sees Yondu floating down from the sky while holding his magic arrow. Quill says he looks like Mary Poppins then reassures Yondu that Poppins is cool. Yondu then confidently announces to the others, "I'm Mary Poppins, y'all!"
