Just because a TV series is loved, doesn't mean that fans love all its characters, in fact, most shows insert a few characters specifically for fans to loathe. With that in mind, who are the most hated TV characters of the 2000s? Keep reading to find out!

Andy Bernard: The Office

Ed Helms as Andy Bernard in The Office

NBC's The Office is full of interesting and often times horrible characters, but Andy Bernard has to be the worst of them all. Andy begins appearing in the third season and ultimately moves to the Scranton branch after his branch is closed. Not only was he an unnecessary character, but he also makes the work environment more hostile, thanks to his anger issues and his need to make stupid jokes.

Instead of growing as a character, Andy gets worse and worse as the series continues until he finally leaves to pursue a failed singing career.

Nikki & Paulo: Lost

Nikki and Paulo

ABC's hit drama Lost has a lot going for it in terms of why it was so popular, but that doesn't mean it without its faults. One of the show's biggest mistakes was introducing Nikki and Paulo into the ensemble cast during season 3.

Not only did their introduction not make sense since they weren't on the plane, they never bonded with the rest of the survivors on the island. Thankfully, the writing staff realized their mistake and killed them off before the season ended.

Meg Griffin: Family Guy

The adult animated cartoon Family Guy is home to several unlikable and annoying characters, but even the characters themselves would agree that Meg Griffin is the absolute worst.

Not only is she often the butt of her family's jokes, but she also constantly complaining about her life instead of taking action and changing it. In addition, her character's back story is all over the place, with some episodes hinting that she's not even a Griffin, while others hint at the fact that she herself is a mother.

Ted Mosby: How I Met Your Mother

As the main character of the CBS sitcom How I Met Your Motherits a wonder the show ran for as long as it did. To be fair though, Ted Mosby didn't start out as the series's most hated character, he just quickly developed into the role.

For starters, he has an ego that makes him incredibly selfish. Not to mention he was so obsessed with love that he told Robin he loved her on their first date. Yet, he still cheated on his girlfriends!

Livia Soprano: The Sopranos

The HBO breakout drama The Sopranos was home to some pretty awful characters, which made sense since the show followed a family of mobsters. And yet, despite all the atrocities these characters committed, the most hated character is none other than Livia Soprano, aka Tony's mother.

Livia is not like other mothers, in fact, there's hardly a nurturing bone in her body. Her atrocities go as far as putting a hit out on her own son to have him killed. She definitely is not winning any Mother of the Year awards.

Caillou: Caillou

One might think children's television would be free from having characters who are loathed by the masses. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case with the PBS Kids Canadian television show Caillou. In fact, the title character often tops the list of most annoying and hated television characters of all time.

The reason people hate him? Well, Caillou has a history of being a brat who spends much of the show whining. He's become such a hated cartoon character that Huffpost compiled an entire article outlining the various ways people, usually adults, hate on him.

Jeremy Jamm: Parks And Recreation

Parks and Recreation is one of the most iconic workplace sitcoms of all time. In addition, its also given us some of the best characters of all time, like Leslie Knope.

Unfortunately, the show also gave birth to one of the most annoying characters who fans hate with a passion. We're talking about none other than Jeremy Jamm. Not only is he often at war with Leslie Knope, he's also insanely misogynistic and condescending to everyone around him. In addition, he has a history of throwing temper tantrums until he gets his way.

Dan Scott: One Tree Hill

The CW teen drama One Tree Hill had an ever-evolving ensemble cast of characters who each had their good and bad days. However, one character, in particular, was more bad than good. Yes, it's Dan Scott, aka the villain of Tree Hill.

Not only did Dan abandoned Lucas when he was born, he also treated Nathan, the son he stuck around to raise, like dirt. In addition, he literally killed his own brother for no reason. The writers may have tried to redeem him by having him bond with his grandson, but it was too late for fans of the show.

Angelica Pickles: Rugrats

Rugrats

You might be surprised to find another children's television character on this list but Angelica Pickles from Rugrats certainly deserves her place.

Angelica is the stereotypical only child who is selfish and throws tantrums until she gets what she wants. In addition, she's also bossy and a master manipulator when it comes to the other babies. Not to mention, she's constantly traumatizing them by telling them false facts, like the idea that Tommy will disappear if he shares his toys with his little brother.

Emily Waltham: Friends

One could argue that Ross Geller is the worst and most hated character of Friends and many fans of the series would agree. However, the absolute worst character to come out of the NBC sitcom has to be Emily Waltham.

To be fair, Ross does play a huge part in the reason why fans hate her, but she also contributes to this on her own. After all, she was extremely selfish when she demanded that he doesn't hang out with Rachel, and she barely considered his career when she decided that they should move to London.
