Before we dive into the specifics, it's worth noting that the numbers we're using are the domestic grosses, not worldwide ones. This means that a film's performance overseas is not being taken into account.

With that out of the way, it's time to grab some popcorn and sit in front of the big screen. Here are the highest-earning movies of the 2010s, according to Box Office Mojo.

Rogue One ($532 million)

The Star Wars series saw a resurgence during the 2010s. While a sequel trilogy cruised its way into theaters, a couple of spin-off movies also took on the big screen. One of these was Rogue One.

This Star Wars tale tells the story of a scientist who is swept up from his farm life to become the designer of the Empire's Death Star. Years later, his daughter Jyn, in collaboration with a spy, sets out to nab the plans so that the Rebel Alliance can survive.

The 2016 space-opera ultimately grossed $532 million.

The Lion King ($543 million)

Disney's classic 1994 story about the lions who rule of the Pride Lands of Africa received a 2019 live-action remake.

The musical once again focuses on Simba, a young lion who ends up leaving his homelands after the death of his father. When Simba's evil uncle Scar tries to rise to the throne, however, the now-grown king must return to the place he's from and claim his rightful rule.

This film roared its way to a $543 million box office score in the U.S.

Incredibles 2 ($608 million)

Pixar's Incredibles received a superhero sequel in 2018.

The newest story in the series has Elastigirl taking on a terrifying new villain who calls himself the Screenslaver. Meanwhile, Mr. Incredible is forced to save his kids from the chaos of home. While Violet deals with her teenage crush, an energetic Dash handles his math homework and a curious Jack-Jack explores his newfound powers.

The film ultimately rescued $608 million from the box office.

Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi ($620 million)

The Last Jedi has Luke Skywalker's solitude becoming interrupted by Rey, a young scavenger who possesses the powers of the Force. He agrees to help her learn to control them, but their time is limited as Kylo Ren and General Hux are out to attack the Resistance yet again.

A final film in this Star Wars trilogy is set to be released before the year ends.

The Avengers ($623 million)

The original Avengers film hit theaters in 2012. While it was a critical win, it was also a commercial success, bringing in $623 million from the box office.

This film had Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, and Hawkeye teaming together against Thor's adopted brother, Loki.

When the mischevious God gets his hands on a powerful object known as the Tesseract, it is up to the heroes to take it back. It all ends with a giant fight in the middle of New York City.

Jurassic World ($652 million)

The Jurassic Park series received a long-awaited sequel in 2015. Starring Chris Pratt as a Navy vet and Velociraptor handler and Bryce Dallas Howard as the Jurassic World operations manager, this film had the leading pair attempting to keep the park guests safe after the dinosaurs escape.

The sci-fi adventure grossed a colossal $652 million at the domestic box office. It received a sequel in 2018 and is set to get another one in 2021.

Avengers: Infinity War ($678 million)

The third installment in the Avengers series had the heroes teaming together to fight their biggest threat yet: Thanos.

This powerful villain sets out to collect the six Infinity Stones in an attempt to change reality and turn half of all life on earth to dust. To stop him, the gang concludes that they must get to the stones before he does.

Infinity War's twist ending had fans eager for the final installment. It scored $678 million from the box office.

Black Panther ($700 million)

T'Challa returns to the African nation of Wakanda after learning of the death of his father in Black Panther. Once he arrives, however, the rightful king is faced with a powerful enemy who hopes to take the throne as his own. This has T'Challa embarking on an intense mission to regain his reign and save his people.

The 2018 film was massively successful, with many praising the characters, story, excitement, and significance of it all. It took home $700 million from the domestic box office.

Avengers: Endgame ($858 million)

Nearing the top of the list is the final installment in the Avengers franchise.

Picking up where Infinity War left off, the heroes who are left on earth are forced to deal with the failure that resulted from their fight against Thanos. When they learn that time travel might allow them to reverse the world's destruction, they come back together to alter the course of history. This doesn't come without its sacrifices, however.

The film ended its run by grossing over $858 million from the domestic box office.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens ($936 million)

The movie that grossed the most at the domestic box office is none other than The Force Awakens. This Star Wars installment, which released in 2015, brought the epic space-opera series to a new generation.

The film tells of a scavenger and a former stormtrooper who team together with Han Solo to take on the galaxy's newest threat: Kylo Ren, the evil son of Solo and Leia.

The film pulled in an out-of-this-world $936 million gross.
