With the new Thor movie Thor: Love and Thunder coming up, and Mjölnir replicas selling for hundreds of dollars, it's clearly a sought-after movie prop. However, there are plenty of other iconic movie items fans from cinematic history that fans would pay a handsome sum for (or steal from a movie set if they could get away with it with no consequences).

After all, actors are only a part of what makes a good movie. It needs to be a combination of good acting, an amazing soundtrack, stunning filming locations, and of course, props are also a part of it. After all, Spider-Man wouldn't be the same without his spidey suit.

The Declaration Of Independence

While National Treasure was not well received by critics, the first movie was especially loved by fans and became a cult classic due to its fun storyline and actors who knew how to deliver it. A Reddit user divesh_sam mentioned that given the chance they would "steal the Declaration of Independence" from the movie set.

The real Declaration obviously does not feature a map on the back, at least according to the Harvard scholars, but the movie prop is more exciting. Disney apparently made several versions of the map for the movie, and one of them is framed and displayed (per YourProps).

The Heart Of The Ocean

Titanic real diamond roses necklace is based on

This Reddit User says "The necklace from Titanic, d'uh! Thing's worth $350 million." However, the movie prop isn't quite worth that much. The necklace is fictional but had it been real it would have been valued at around $300 million.

It was inspired by a real piece of jewelry named The Hope Diamond, which is admittedly very expensive. But The Heart Of The Ocean, as it's called, was originally made for the motion picture, containing white gold and zirconia, and is only valued at around 8.000€ (via Baunat). However much it's worth, for Rose it was a priceless memory of a loved one that she held onto for years in a promise she made to Jack to never let go.

The One Ring

The One Ring from LOTR

Who wouldn't want to own the One Ring That Rules Them All from The Lord Of The Rings franchise, especially when it allows people to become invisible? But owning the movie prop would be just as satisfying for Reddit user pendragoncomic. However, they were quickly set straight by another user to specify which one.

According to user MrFurious0 "There was an ENORMOUS one for close-ups, a magnetic one so it fell CLUNK dead on the floor without bouncing, the regular hero one attached to the chain..." It makes sense that the movie would have to use several ones for different shots, but sometimes thinking too hard about it takes all the fun out of it.

The Ruby Slippers

Dorothy’s ruby slippers are one of the most valuable movie props of all time. A pair was even stolen from a museum during a heist and was only later recovered by the FBI, so joking about stealing these is not the wisest decision if one doesn't want special agents that specialize in theft knocking on their doors.

A Reddit user henrijonesjr mentioned "There were (like most movie props/ costumes) multiple pairs made, some for dancing, some for walking, and some for close up shots. Personally, I'd like the pair that were attached to the Wicked Witch of the East at the beginning." And who wouldn't when they're valued at several million. However, they can't quite be given monetary value only, because in time they've become a piece of history for all the lovers of the story and the motion picture.

Sword Of Gryffindor

Excalibur in a piece of stone

Few movie franchises were as successful and as captivating as Harry Potter. It spurred countless merch opportunities, from the plush owls to time-turner keychains, they capitalized on everything in the universe. The Reddit user Far_Fignewton would love to take home the original sword used in the filming of the various movies.

The iconic sword has been featured in more than one movie in the franchise, earning itself a spot at the Warner Bros Studio London, where it is available to be seen by fans. Funnily enough, according to Warner Bros, it was bought at an auction and then redesigned to become the sword everyone knows.

Indy's Hat, Jacket, Whip, And Satchel

Indiana Jones franchise needs a reboot Harrison Ford

Indiana Jones memorabilia is highly coveted by Reddit users. Reddit user GO-KARRT couldn't choose just one and would like to own Indy's entire outfit - "hat, jacket, whip, and satchel." In another thread, Mr_Manfredjensenjen states, "Indy's whip sold at auction for less than 18K in 2000. I remember being shocked at how low the price was. For some reason Indy's Fedora hats have always been more valuable."

Some of his fedoras sold at auctions with an asking price of up to $300.000, featuring among the most iconic movie hats of all time. It's always interesting to think why a certain prop attracts more interest than others, and in this case, Indiana Jones was a staple in many lives as the adventure movie everyone wanted to live out.

Inigo Montoya's Sword

Wesley and Buttercup in The Princess Bride

Perhaps not the most popular, but certainly among the most beautiful props is the sword Inigo Montoya carried in The Princess Bride, which viewers can catch on Hulu at the moment. The Reddit user awesomeness0232 said: "Inigo's sword from The Princess Bride. It's beautiful and the replicas are crazy expensive."

The Princess Bride was a staple in many households, and many people grew up watching Inigo Montoya sway that sword around, hoping to avenge his father's death. That aside, it is a really beautifully made sword, as the user did point out, and very intricately made. Paying this kind of attention to detail is always appreciated in movies.

The Books Of The Living And Dead From The Mummy

The books of the living and dead in The Mummy

If one puts aside the historical inaccuracy of this movie, The Mummy is still one of the most enjoyable movies and doesn't take itself too seriously. They created these two books for the motion picture, having some fun with the design. They look mysterious and interesting, and it makes sense one would want to open them and read, though a real book of the dead would mostly likely be a scroll, not an actual book.

Reddit user kietcetc mentioned both of these books as movie props they'd like to own, but considering what happened in the movies, they might not want to take any chances.

Luke Skywalker’s Green Lightsaber

Few movie memorabilia are as visually recognizable as this one, even to the people who haven't seen the Star Wars movies. But this fandom has one of the most loyal fanbases, and this Reddit user is very excited at the prospect of owning this particular one: "The original 1977 Luke Lightsaber - that Graflex is my favorite piece of prop history and I would do horrible things to have the real one in my collection."

Movie props like this are rare, because they not only marked one generation but several, so they definitely have their place in the cult classics. This was a lightsaber that saw Luke through many battles, which is why it's so iconic to fans, even though it's not the most powerful or the best weapon in the Star Wars series.

The Briefcase From Pulp Fiction

Samuel Jackson Pulp fiction Marcellus Wallace Briefcase

"I would steal the briefcase from “Pulp Fiction” and finally figure out what the hell was so damn special about the contents inside," said Reddit user Suitable-Button9844, which brings up a valid point, because they did fight about that briefcase an awful lot.

They might have been sorely disappointed because Redditor Kenzi2179 posted a picture of inside the briefcase showing what the actors saw, and it wasn't as impressive as everyone imagined.
