Since the studio was founded in 2012, A24 has been steadily pumping out amazing movie after amazing movie. Covering virtually every genre from documentaries, comedies, dramas, and horror, the studio has built up quite a reputation in the world of cinema for putting out consistently high-quality and often thought-provoking films.

Debuting some of the biggest new directors in Hollywood like Ari Aster, Robert Eggers, and more, the studio is still riding a hot streak that seems to have no end in sight. With the pandemic pushing back many movies, there is still plenty to be excited about from the studio in 2021 and beyond.

Sharper

With the news of Marvel fan-favorite Sebastian Stan joining an already impressive cast in Sharper, the hype train is full speed ahead for the upcoming drama from A24. Not many details are known bout the movie just yet, as it is still in the early stages of production, but there are a few things that have been released that should have fans excited.

The film will follow a woman played by Julianne Moore, who is a con artist bumping elbows with the billionaire elite. Sebastian Stans's character will also play a con artist, though it is unclear the extent of his role as of now.

The Humans

It's rare when a movie that is yet to be released has all of its plot details known to the public, but such is the case for the upcoming thriller The Humans. Based on a stage play of the same name, the film will follow a family in pre-war Manhattan as they celebrate thanksgiving together.

The film plays out from there with plenty of unusual twists and turns as tension and family drama continue to grow. Starring Steven Yuen and Beanie Feldstein among others, the film is set to premiere at the Toronto film festival.

Red Rocket

From the brilliant mind of director Sean Baker, best known for his film The Florida Project which featured one of the best acting debuts in recent years, comes a story about an ex-adult film star trying to figure out his next life move.

The film doesn't have a theatrical release date just yet, but, according to Rotten Tomatoes, critics are already raving about the project after viewing it during the Cannes Film festival. If Sean Baker's other work is anything to by, viewers can expect a film that is deeply personal and raw and something that won't sugarcoat the more difficult aspects of life.

Lamb

Noomi Rapace and Björn Hlynur Haraldsoon in Lamb

A24 has built a reputation for releasing some unusual movies. The most obvious example is Robert Eggers' acclaimed A24 hit The Lighthouse, and it seems they are continuing this streak of odd premised psychological thrillers with Lamb.

The film follows the unusual arrival of a half lamb-half human baby on a couples' farm in Iceland. Not much was known about the project until recently when A24 released the first trailer for the upcoming film.  The trailer doesn't give too much away, but, if the tone and setting is anything to go by, the movie will be an interesting and unsettling ride.

Bride

Despite relying on lower-budget movies during the studios' early years, recent films by A24 have managed to pull in some serious star-power, as is the case with the Scarlett Johannsson-led Bride. The film is being described as a sci-fi drama about an eccentric entrepreneur who creates the perfect wife. After fleeing, she must find her true identity in a world that views her as a monster. The film is set to release in theatres and on Apple +.

Disappointment Blvd.

Ari Aster was one of the directors that helped take A24 to a whole new level of critical reception and commercial success, and his next film will hope to continue his impressive run of A24 horror films including Hereditary and Midsommar.

Unfortunately, there is virtually no information regarding the plot released for the film, and it seems the studio is intent on keeping it that way for some time. However, anything from Ari Aster is bound to get viewers excited as they look forward to what twisted world he will create next.

The Tragedy Of Macbeth

It's been over three years since audiences have gotten a proper Coen Brothers movie, and, though the upcoming Shakespeare adaption only includes Joel Coen as per ScreenRant, audiences will be looking forward to it nonetheless.

If the Coen name wasn't enough to get audiences excited for the film, the names Frances McDormand and Denzel Washington will likely do the trick. It's not quite clear if the movie will deviate from its source material, but, if it does, it likely won't be by much.

Pleasure

A24 has never shied away from more explicit material, but the acquisition of Pleasure definitely seems a little raunchy even for them. The film follows a newcomer to the L.A. porn industry and offers a raw and unfiltered look into the industry.

A24 didn't even acquire the film until it was already released at the Cannes Film Festival, but the subject matter is sure to turn some heads and pique enough curiosity for many viewers to give it a try.

After Yang

Colin Farrell in After Yang

Another sci-fi drama from the studio seems like a no-brainer after several other successes with the genre, mainly the critically acclaimed Ex MachinaAfter Yang stars Colin Farell as a father trying to help save the life of a robotic brother that was adopted for his daughter. The film already debuted at the Cannes Film Festival, and, as per Variety, received rave reviews, particularly concerning how intelligent the movie is and its depiction of A.I. Critics have also had plenty to say about one of Colin Farrell's best performances to date.

The Souvenir Part II

Continuing the highly regarded coming of age story, The Souvenir. As covered by Indiewire, the first film was met with immense critical acclaim, and, with early reviews starting to pour in, it seems that audiences can expect more of the same from the second part of the film.

The Souvenir Part II will continue the story of Julie as she attempts to make her film following the death of Anthony at the end of the first film. Although there is no official release date, it seems a theatrical release is not far away.
