The Mosquito Coast season 2 trailer show Margot Fox reaching her breaking point. Based on Paul Theroux's 1981 novel of the same name, the Apple TV+ television series stars Theroux's nephew, Justin Theroux, as Allie Fox, a disillusioned inventor who lives on the lam with his wife Margot (Melissa George), daughter Dina (Logan Polish), and son Charlie (Gabriel Bateman). After the U.S. government catches up with them, Allie and Margot whisk their children away and head to Mexico where they encounter cartels and corrupt police.

Although the show received mixed reviews with critics praising the cast's performances but finding fault in its plot, Mosquito Coast was renewed for a second season in June 2021. Earlier this year, Marvel's Agents of Shield star Natalia Cordova-Buckley was announced as joining the series along with Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone's Ian Hart. After barely escaping capture at the end of the season 1, the Fox family left Mexico departing on a recently purchased boat in hopes to find a new home to settle.

Will Margot's Secret Be Revealed?

The Mosquito Coast Justin Theroux Allie Fox Season 2

Throughout Mosquito Coast season 1, the Fox family was put through the ringer as they were chased from their home in the United States, escaping to Mexico only to find themselves in a more dangerous situation. Meanwhile, Dina and Charlie -- as well as the audience -- wondered what the crime was that caused Allie and Margot to take such drastic measures. At the start of the season, the narrative implied Allie committed the criminal offense that sent the family in hiding. However, as the season continued, the blame veered toward Margot with her husband simply doing what he could to keep the family together and protect the ones that he loves.

Unfortunately, the question of Margot's suspected crime was never revealed by season 1's end leaving many disappointed. With Margot contacting the US government in season 2, possibly to cut a deal, she may be at wit's end as she sees a deal to turn herself in to the authorities as a last resort for her family's safety. With The Mosquito Coast season 2 set to return to Apple TV+ on November 4, audiences do not have to wait much longer to finally find out why the Fox family went on the run in the first place.
