Footage from the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie shows off Sub-Zero's powers. Sub-Zero was one of the original characters introduced in the Mortal Kombat arcade game back in the '90s. The character has continued to be one of the most recognizable faces in the franchise, returning for multiple video games, as well as the two failed attempts to bring the series to the big screen with the movies Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. Sub-Zero is again being brought back for the Mortal Kombat reboot, this time being played by Joe Taslim.

While the two movies in the '90s failed to make an impact with fans and critics alike, people have still been looking forward to seeing what James Wan and director Simon McQuoid can bring to the franchise. While fans have gotten updates on the film over the last few years, Warner Bros. only recently started sharing images from the movie. The official logo for the movie was released in December, but yesterday the first look at Mortal Kombat was released, with images of Liu Kang (Ludi Lin), Jax Briggs (Mehcad Brooks), Kano (Josh Lawson), Kung Lao (Max Huang), Sonya Blade (Jessica McNamee), and Sub-Zero (Taslim) being revealed. Now, fans can see Sub-Zero in action.

Like most big blockbusters, Warner Bros. has kept the details of their Mortal Kombat reboot a secret. While previous attempts to adapt the video games into a movie has proven unsuccessful, fans have higher hopes now that the film will be rated R. This led to the news that the movie will have several game-accurate fatalities, something that the two PG-13 movies weren't able to do. Story details have also been kept under wraps, with it only recently being revealed that the movie will focus on the rivalry between Sub-Zero and ScorpionMortal Kombat is bringing several fan-favorite characters to the big (and small) screen, but the movie will also introduce a new character named Cole Young, played by Lewis Tan.

Warner Bros. has drawn a lot of criticism for their 2021 release plan, but this trailer doubles down on their drive to up their HBO Max subscribers while allowing fans to watch new blockbusters from the safety of their homes. The above video may only provide a quick flash of Mortal Kombat itself, but fans can expect to get a lot more promotional material here soon. Mortal Kombat's release date is drawing closer, and Warner Bros. will no doubt release a trailer here soon before the movie hits theaters and HBO Max in April. Fans will get a better idea of what's in store for them at that point, but for now, this quick glimpse of Sub-Zero will have to do.
