Fatalities are already hard for some to watch in Mortal Kombat 11, but the Mortal Kombat actors that play Cole Young, Jax, Sonya Blade, and Kano in the upcoming movie are apparently excited at the prospect of being added as DLC to the game. Though NetherRealm has not confirmed any new movie tie-in content for MK11, stars Lewis Tan, Mehcad Brooks, Jessica McNamee, and Josh Lawson have now further sparked rumors that Tan's new character and movie skins could happen.

This would not be the first time that Mortal Kombat movie actors reprised their roles in the game. Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, who played Shang Tsung in the 1995 film was added to MK11 in a DLC skin pack back in November 2020. This leaves the door open for future film actors to try out combos in the virtual world. For the actors of the upcoming reboot film, it would be more than a job, it would be a flawless victory.

In a cast interview with Game Revolution, both Josh Lawson (Kano) and Jessica McNamee (Sonya Blade) say they want to see themselves added as movie skins for their Mortal Kombat 11 characters. (Lawson even joked that he could play Sonya Blade if need be.) Mehcad Brooks (Jax) explained that the actors have already been scanned for CGI, so it could be an obvious next step for Warner Bros. to incorporate their motions into the game. As for leading star Lewis Tan (Cole Young), he's open to lending more than his likeness to Mortal Kombat 11 as an entirely new character properly performed by himself.

The Mortal Kombat movie created Tan’s character, Cole Young, for the screen, meaning MK11 would have to add an entirely new character to the game’s roster. Still, that process doesn't deter Tan, who offers to do his own mocap and stunts for his digital appearance. He used to be a stuntman before he was an actor, so that idea should be exciting for him and fans alike. The real process of adding new skins to the game consists of more than mocap and face scanning , though, so NetherRealm would have to bring all of the actors in to record voice lines. The process could be tedious and expensive and may only arrive if the movie does well, but it's the game's best chance at major new content additions.

Since MK11 hasn't gotten a new Kombat Pack in over five months, and the film is releasing around the same time as the game’s second anniversary, it could be possible that NetherRealm and WB Interactive are already planning to bring the actor’s skins to the game. If the developer and publisher have been keeping such DLC content a secret, it’s been very well-kept one.
