A fan favorite, Mileena was missing from the most recent Mortal Kombat game, Mortal Kombat 11 . The evil twin and occasional boss has long been a staple of the Mortal Kombat franchise. Even in her sustained absence, Mileena's popularity remains high.

Mileena is a dual sai-wielding assassin and malevolent twin of Princess Kitana. Appearing first in Mortal Kombat II in 1993 as the first evil female character in the Mortal Kombat series, Mileena is the heir of Shao Kahn, and competes for the Outworld throne with Kotal Kahn. The 2011 reboot of the Mortal Kombat series made Mileena more mentally unstable and cannibalistic.

Mileena became popular with audiences for her looks, her slinky outfits, and her literal man-eating Fatalities. Her alternate costume from 2011's Mortal Kombat is called "Flesh Pits" and features an unmasked and nearly nude Mileena. Despite the clothes or lack thereof, most attention is given to her face, specifically the lower half. Physically, Mileena is almost identical to Princess Kitana, with the notable exception of her half-Tarkata face with large, fang-like teeth.

What Happened To Mileena In Mortal Kombat?

Mileena from Mortal Kombat 10

Mileena's history gives some clues as to where she is currently. A clone of Kitana, Mileena was chosen to spy on her "sister" as Kitana allied with fighters from the Earthrealm during the events of Mortal Kombat II. Kitana killed her, and Mileena swore fealty to Shinnok while in the Neatherealm after death. Shinnok allowed her to return to life, and Mileena was subsequently locked away in a dungeon after Shinnok's eventual defeat.

In Mortal Kombat X (2015) she became the empress of the Outworld following Shao Khan's death, but was overthrown by Kotal Khan. Mileena vowed to reclaim the throne using Shinnok's amulet, but was captured during her attempt. She managed to use the amulet to keep from being executed and escaped with some well-timed help. She then fights and loses to D'Vorah who is working with Cassie Cage to recover the amulet. Kotal Kahn decides her fate: to be devoured by flesh-eating parasites.

Mileena is mentioned many times in story mode of Mortal Kombat 11. For now, it can be assumed she has returned to the Netherealm where she is awaiting the chance to make another deal to be resurrected. Due to popular demand, Mileena is part of Kitana's Friendship celebration in Mortal Kombat 11, giving fans a glimpse of their favorite man-eater. Fans will get more looks at Mileena soon: Sisi Stringer has been tapped to play her in the 2021 reboot of the film series.
