Patrick Seitz, the talented voice actor who portrayed Scorpion in Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge, hopes for a direct sequel. Scorpion's Revenge is an animated film based on the popular, Mortal Kombat video game franchise. The video games have inspired comic books, a card game, YouTube television series, and live-action movies. There is also a new, rebooted, live-action Mortal Kombat movie in the works slated for 2021.

The character Scorpion first made his debut as one of the original seven playable fighters in the 1992 Mortal Kombat game. Scorpion has long been one of the most popular characters, and a mascot for the games. The character is the focus of Scorpion's Revenge, who goes off on a revenge quest after his whole tribe is destroyed by Sub-Zero and the Lin Kuei clan. On his path for vengeance, he finds himself at the Mortal Kombat tournament, where he meets Liu Kang, Johnny Cage, and Sonya Blade.

During an interview with Screen Rant, Patrick Seitz discusses the movie and iconic character. Seitz was asked if he sees there being room for Scorpion to make a comeback in the case of a direct sequel to Scorpion's Revenge. In response, Seitz says that he hopes so.

I mean I think the great thing about this movie is, not only does it do its job and do service as its own service and moment in the franchise, but certainly, it doesn't close the door, I feel, to there being any sort of follow up. There's a big Mortal Kombat world out there. If the stars align and people are digging it, I don't see why they don't keep teasing out some of those threads and some of those plot lines into more movies. I hope they do.

Scorpion's Revenge marks the fourth time that Seitz has played the role of Scorpion. The actor first portrayed the character in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe in 2008. Seitz has a long voice acting resume, having played famous roles such as Franky in One Piece, Jiren the Gray in Dragon Ball Super, and Endeavor in My Hero Academia. Seitz also played the voice of Thor in Marvel Future Avengers, an anime TV series based on the Avengers that is now streaming on Disney+.

Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge may have ended by giving Scorpion closure, but there seemed to be plenty of setup for a direct sequel focusing on the other Mortal Kombat characters. The scene in which Shao Kahn orders Shang Tsung to prepare for an invasion put things in place for a continued story, while also giving "I'll do it myself" Thanos vibes. Scorpion is also too iconic of a character to potentially leave out of a sequel. From the interview with Seitz, it seems that fans may get a chance to hear his deep, booming voice again as Scorpion in the future following Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge.
