The franchise is one of the most beloved of its kind, paving the way for other popular fighting games.
The games, which are known for their brutal KO sequences, have a great many characters, each with their own personality and backstory. Earlier games contained only simple text to stand for the storyline, but since then, the games have gotten more and more in-depth. With such unique characters, it is interesting to see how they can best line up with different personality types, such as those outlined by the Zodiac.
Aries - Sub-Zero
Aries are bold and fearless. They are always willing to jump into any situation head-on, for better or worse. This can lead them down a variety of roads.
This is a great descriptor for Sub-Zero, also known as Kuai Liang. He is a ninja who left behind his clan and criminal past, committing himself instead to heroic acts in the Mortal Kombat universe. Kitana starts out as a cold and ruthless woman who was loyal to Shao Kahn. However, she later betrays him in order to free her home of Edenia. As time goes on, her kindness and selflessness shine through. However, her clone, Mileena, offers a constant reminder of her darker side, which is why she perfectly exemplifies a Gemini.
Cancer - Reptile
Cancers are known as being tenacious and loyal to a fault. They will often cling to an idea firmly, refusing to let it go without very great effort on their own part. While this trait can be positive when they find a good cause, it is easy for a Cancer to get pulled down an ominous path.
Reptile is a member of a humanoid race that has lizard-like features. He is endlessly loyal to Shao Kahn and is a victim to the delusion that Kahn is the key to returning his home, Zaterra, to its former glory. While he is not an evil character to his core, his trust and faith in the wrong source have led him down a path of violence and destruction.
Leo - Johnny Cage
Leos are passionate, talented, and cheerful. They often are a force for good but with some fairly problematic flaws. A Leo is very likely to be arrogant and self-centered, often only finding motivation in tasks that they believe will be self-serving.
Fans know Johnny Cage as one of the main protagonists of the series, and he is one of their all-time favorites. He is a self-absorbed action movie star, making him the perfect Leo. While it often takes him some time to get on board with a noble cause, he is still a good person in his heart and always manages to come through for those he cares about.
Virgo - Shang Tsung

Scorpion is a vengeful spirit who can be related to the Scorpio sign for more reasons than his name. He is powerful and violent, completely lacking remorse for the damage that he causes. His only thought is to seek revenge on Sub-Zero for killing his family and destroying his clan.
Sagittarius - Cassie Cage
Sagittarius personalities are humorous, energetic, and cheerful. They are always ready for an adventure but tend to be impatient and eager to prove themselves. As a result, they often end up giving too much of themselves and wearing themselves too thin.
Cassie Cage is the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade. She has inherited her father's charisma but is balanced out by her mother so that she is much less selfish and arrogant. She is eager to live up to her parents' legacies, causing her to join the Special Forces. She is also highly moral, so she will not kill unless she has no choice.
Capricorn - Sonya Blade

However, while their expectations for the people around them tend to be high, they also care deeply for their loved ones and will protect them at any cost.
Sonya Blade is a beautiful and tough soldier, and she is a member of the Earthrealm Special Forces Unit known as the Outer World Investigation Agency. She is disciplined and efficient, making her skilled in anything she does. While her exterior is tough, she cares for her fellow soldiers and, of course, her daughter Cassie.
Aquarius - Raiden
Aquarius personalities are passionate humanitarians. They believe in the greater good and are always striving to ensure the survival of humanity. They are strong and independent but often struggle with emotion management. They can have fierce tempers that can easily get out of control.
Raiden is the Eternal God of Thunder and a true Aquarius. He has tasked himself with the protection of Earthrealm and would do anything to ensure the safety of humanity, which helps to make him one of the best Mortal Kombat characters. While he is compassionate and empathetic, he has a temper that matches the lighting that he controls.
Pisces - Jax Briggs
Pisces personalities are intuitive, watchful, and wise. They have great compassion for their charges and will do anything to ensure their success and safety. This can make them sometimes anxious and fearful, not for themselves, but for those they care about.
Jax Briggs is the Commander of Special Forces and the best friend to Sonya. Sonya serves as his lieutenant, and he is constantly looking out for her and the other soldiers' safety. While he has the structure of a soldier, he is far more emotional than he lets on and worries about his team just like any Pisces would.
