Released in March of 2019, Mortal Kombat 11 looks to keep the combat marching forward, keeping its players invested and plugged in to NetherRealm Studios' latest title in the long-running franchise with a second Kombat Pack and a new Ultimate Edition. The first Kombat Pack added six characters to Mortal Kombat 11, with series favorites such as Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, and Sindel being joined by the Joker, the T-800 from the Terminator franchise, and Todd McFarlane's Spawn. Following up on that, a story expansion would join the fray in MK11 Aftermath.

MK11 Aftermath adds a brand-new segment to the game's Story Mode that takes place after the events of the original game. In addition, Aftermath brought back Sheeva and Fujin to the Mortal Kombat 11 roster, alongside Alex Murphy of Robocop fame, bringing the fighter count from its original number of 25 to an impressive 34 with post-launch additions accounted for. Now, the Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate Edition looks to continue the trend, with new content and some upgrades to go along with it.

Perhaps the most requested character from Mortal Kombat's expansive lineup of characters, Mileena finally joins the latest installment of the franchise. A Tarkatan-Edenian hybrid, Mileena was created in the Flesh Pits by Shang Tsung as a clone of Princess Kitana to serve under Shao Kahn, the Emperor of Outworld at the time of her creation. Mileena would eventually succeed Shao Kahn after the events of Mortal Kombat (2011), taking his place on the throne before meeting her demise at the hands of D'Vorah. With Mileena back in a world where Kitana has assumed the throne of Outworld, fans of the franchise are given a new dynamic between the duo to explore with Mileena's return.

Joining Mileena is the Edenian demigod, Rain. Last playable in Mortal Kombat (2011), Rain made an appearance in the Story Mode of MKX, working alongside Mileena and aiding her ascension to the throne of Outworld. During the course of the story, it is revealed that Rain wished to take the throne for himself, organizing a plot involving the theft of Shinnok's Amulet in an effort to claim the crown from under Mileena. With both characters returning to the roster, players can finally see the fallout of Rain's deception and the dissolution of their deadly alliance.

Rounding out the roster of newcomers, NetherRealm Studios continues to pay homage to the roots of Mortal Kombat with the addition of another action icon from the 80s. After numerous rumors surrounding his appearance, John Rambo is finally confirmed to be joining the MK11 cast. Portrayed by Sylvester Stallone in the five-movie series, the actor returns to the role here, donning the bandana and lending his iconic likeness and voice to the character and bringing him to life once again.

With the Ultimate Edition of Mortal Kombat 11, players will get an incredible value at USD $59.99 as pre-orders (complete with an exclusive skin-pack) go live on October 15th. Players looking to upgrade to any DLC pack can grab Kombat Pack 1 for $19.99, Aftermath for $39.99, or the upcoming Kombat Pack 2 for $14.99. Whether players are excited for the return of old fan favorites or are looking to pit Stallone vs. Schwarzenegger despite the voice not quite matching on the latter, Mortal Kombat 11 is looking to offer both current and new players a reason to join the combat when the Ultimate Edition launches alongside Kombat Pack 2 on November 17th on the PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Stadia.
