The mad lads at Mortal Kombat 11 developer Netherrealm Studios have shared a chunk of gameplay for Mileena, the next fan-favorite character returning to the franchise. Introduced in Mortal Kombat II as a color-swap ninja variant of Kitana, Mileena has grown into one of the most popular characters in the series. She was last playable in Mortal Kombat X, serving a pivotal role in the story that made it hard to include her in the next installment. Thankfully, the time travel-heavy campaign of Mortal Kombat 11 makes her inclusion as DLC easy to pull off, and she'll finally join the fight in the upcoming Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate release.

Two other fighters are joining Mileena in Mortal Kombat 11 as of the release of the Ultimate edition of the game. Fellow purple ninja Rain emerges from Mortal Kombat III after being an NPC character in the last game. He utilizes water-based attacks which players can already get a sense of in-game in his blink and you'll miss it Krypt cameo. The more exciting inclusion is John Rambo, the Vietnam veteran turned American myth from the series of movies starring Sylvester Stallone. The actor returns to voice the character in Mortal Kombat 11, which can already be sampled in his appropriately violent gameplay trailer.

Mileena's new gameplay trailer is just as violent, just trading in screaming and machine-gun fire with the clawing and biting that the character is known for. In a fight with her "sister," Mileena's various attacks, throws, and her Fatal Blow, which sees her throw her sai through her opponent's eyes before biting them in the neck and ripping out their throat. A fatality move finishes off the trailer that has Mileena spinning rapid-fire with her sai pointed outward before descending on a downed opponent and ripping them to bits.

Mortal Kombat 11: Ultimate Edition is the next-gen ready version of the game, coming to Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 a week after launch on November 17. It includes Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath, a story expansion that adds several hours to the already lengthy campaign alongside an additional trio of new characters. The Ultimate Edition will be available as an all in one package for new customers, and existing customers can purchase the new characters separately. In addition, customers who already own the game will get the upgraded console version free of charge via Xbox's Smart Delivery and a free PlayStation 5 upgrade.

Many fans of Mortal Kombat 11 will be overjoyed that Mileena is finally joining the game's playable roster. The character was one of the most requested on social media whenever an update about the game came up, so it only made sense to add in both purple ninjas in one pack. In addition, pitting her against '80s movie icons like Robocop and The Terminator is something that fans never thought they'd be able to do, but it will be possible very soon. Even if she likely won't return to the story campaigns of future games, it's likely that she will continue to be a much-requested character when Mortal Kombat 12 comes around.
