Mortal Kombat 11 is adding new costumes that are based on characters from different franchises, as Cassie Cage will be receiving a Harley Quinn outfit and Sonya Blade will be getting an outfit based on Sarah Connor from The Terminator movie series. Mortal Kombat 11 is adding DLC characters to the game over the course of its lifespan, and some of them belong to comic book and movie franchises.

The entire DLC roster for Mortal Kombat 11 was leaked before launch, and it was revealed that The Joker from the Batman movies, Spawn from Image Comics, and the T-800 Terminator would all be coming to the game as part of the first Kombat Pack. The Kombat Pack is the name of Mortal Kombat 11's season pass, and it also contains Nightwolf, Shang Tsung, and Sindel from the earlier Mortal Kombat games.

The first gameplay trailer for the Terminator in Mortal Kombat 11 has been revealed, and it was accompanied by announcements for new costumes that would be available through early access on October 8. The Mortal Kombat 11 Twitter page has uploaded a new video showing Cassie Cage's Harley Quinn outfit. The Twitter post references the upcoming Birds of Prey movie and how Cassie auditioned to be in the movie, but sadly her acting skills are on the same level as her father's.

The Sarah Connor outfit was shown in more detail in a video uploaded by Ed Boon to his Twitter page. Sonya Blade is shown facing the Terminator in a costume inspired by the classic Sarah Connor outfit, rather than the one she wears in Terminator: Dark Fate. The Mortal Kombat series has had a history of adding horror movie creatures to the cast, such as Leatherface and the Xenomorph in Mortal Kombat Xbut the Sarah Connor outfit is a rare example of NetherRealm Studios acknowledging other characters from the movies outside of the main villain.

The inclusion of a costume based on a DC character in Mortal Kombat 11 isn't unusual, considering the relationship between NetherRealm Studios and Warner Bros., which has led to both the Injustice series and Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. The upcoming release of the Joker in Mortal Kombat 11 is also leaving the door open for more DC costumes, as well as other potential DLC characters in the future.

The Terminator was considered for Mortal Kombat X, but the developers weren't able to put together a deal at the time. The fact that Terminator: Dark Fate is due to be released this year and will include Sarah Connor is likely what helped ultimately facilitate the inclusion of characters from The Terminator franchise in Mortal Kombat 11. The Harley Quinn and Sarah Connor outfits in Mortal Kombat 11 will be available to those who purchased the Kombat Pack on October 8, and they'll be available for individual purchase on October 15.
